UPON hearing the counsel the Court made
the following
O R D E R
1. The present petition arises from the impugned
order dated 20.05.2026 passed by the High Court of
Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh in CRM-M No.27368
of 2026 whereby the second regular bail
application filed by the petitioner was rejected
by the High Court.
2. The petitioner was accused in FIR No.07 of
2023 dated 11.01.2023 under Sections 419, 420,
465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal
Code (for short, “the IPC”) registered at Police
Station City Zira, District Ferozepur.
3. The petitioner had been in custody since
21.08.2025. By order dated 16.06.2026, a co-
ordinate bench of this Court had issued notice.
4. Heard Sri Gaurav Vir Singh Behl, learned
counsel appearing for the petitioner and Sri Vivek
Jain, learned Additional Attorney General
appearing for the respondent – State of Punjab.
5. The petitioner has been in jail for 10 months

and the allegation is of a forged sale deed having
been registered, after the death of the vendor.
The petitioner attested as a witness and hence has
been roped in. The other co-accused who were
alleged with the crime of forgery have been
granted bail. The petitioner is implicated for the
offence by virtue of Section 120B.
6. On perusal of the material on record and
after hearing the learned counsel for the parties,
we are of the prima facie opinion that the
petitioner can be released on bail, subject to
cooperation with the investigation and such other
terms and conditions that the Sub-Divisional
Judicial Magistrate, Zira (the jurisdictional
court) may deem fit and appropriate to impose. The
petitioner shall appear before the I.O. as and
when directed and shall also on specific
directions issued appear before the jurisdictional
court.
7. With the above directions, the Special Leave
Petition is disposed of.
