New York: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat placed spirituality, Dharma and the fundamental oneness of humanity at the heart of his address at the Universal Oneness Celebration in New York, arguing that beneath the world’s extraordinary diversity lies an inner unity that connects human beings to one another.
Addressing the gathering at Madison Square Garden on August 29, Bhagwat said that “unity and diversity” are embedded in the character of Bharat, while drawing a parallel with the pluralism associated with the United States. The event was organised by American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD) and brought together members of the Hindu community as well as representatives from different religious traditions.
For a world increasingly divided by religion, race, nationality, ideology and identity, Bhagwat’s central message was spiritual rather than merely social: human beings may look different, live differently and follow different paths, but there is an innate oneness that connects them.
“We appear different. We are different,” Bhagwat said while explaining the material differences between individuals. Yet, he added, “there is innate oneness. That is why we feel for each other.”
Diversity Is Nature, Oneness Is the Truth
Bhagwat’s message closely reflected one of the enduring ideas of Hindu spirituality—the search for unity beneath apparent differences.
He argued that diversity should not merely be tolerated but accepted, respected, celebrated and protected. Speaking during his New York engagements, Bhagwat described diversity as a rule of nature while identifying unity as the underlying truth behind it.
At Madison Square Garden, he said diversity adds beauty to oneness rather than contradicting it.
“Diversity has to be celebrated, has to be respected, has to be accepted,” Bhagwat said, while stressing that people must simultaneously retain the consciousness of oneness.
The idea has deep resonance with the Hindu spiritual worldview that sees existence not simply as a collection of competing identities but as an interconnected whole.

“What is the destiny given to Bharat?” he asked, before arguing that India exists to make the world realise that despite diversity, “we are one.”
The message recalls the larger civilisational spirit associated with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “The World Is One Family.”
It is a philosophy that becomes especially relevant at a time when wars, religious tensions, racial divisions and competing identities continue to create conflict across societies.
Dharma Is More Than Worship
Another important spiritual dimension of Bhagwat’s speech was his explanation of Dharma.
He argued that Dharma should not simply be understood as worship or reduced to the Western understanding of religion. During his address, he described Dharma as something beyond worship and linked it to the principles that sustain harmonious life.
He also argued that individual development cannot come at the cost of society, and social progress cannot come at the expense of nature and the environment.
This understanding expands spirituality beyond temples, rituals and prayer. Dharma, in this view, becomes a way of living responsibly—with oneself, society, humanity and nature.
True Happiness Comes From Within
Bhagwat also turned attention towards a fundamental spiritual question: Where does lasting happiness come from?
His remarks contrasted material satisfaction with inner fulfilment, placing emphasis on looking inward rather than expecting possessions and consumption alone to provide lasting happiness.
The thought echoes a recurring theme across Hindu spiritual traditions—that the endless pursuit of external objects cannot permanently satisfy the human mind and that deeper peace requires inner awareness.
This distinction between temporary pleasure and lasting inner fulfilment lies at the heart of many Indian spiritual traditions, from Yoga and Vedanta to the teachings of saints and spiritual masters.
Spirituality Must Lead to Compassion and Sharing
Bhagwat did not restrict spirituality to philosophy. His remarks also connected oneness with the practical responsibility to care for others.
He spoke about the human capacity to feel another person’s hunger and suffering and stressed the importance of giving and sharing. In his wider message, he argued that what ultimately matters is not simply how much one earns but how much one is able to distribute and contribute to others.
That emphasis on service was also visible during his New York visit.
Ahead of the Madison Square Garden gathering, Bhagwat visited an ISKCON temple in New York and participated in a food-distribution initiative for homeless people. There, he spoke about Krishna consciousness as a force capable of transcending the conflicts and divisions of the contemporary world.
He said consciousness is what can unite people despite differences, and suggested that a deeper understanding that everything is connected with Krishna could help create a more harmonious world.
From Raksha Bandhan to Universal Responsibility
The symbolism of Raksha Bandhan also formed an important backdrop to the Universal Oneness Celebration.
The organisers presented the festival’s idea of bonds and responsibility in a broader context. Rather than limiting the concept of protection to a brother and sister, the event sought to extend that consciousness towards society and humanity. The gathering was promoted around the principle that unity rather than separation provides the foundation for a healthy society.
Seen spiritually, the idea can go further still: if the entire world is one family, responsibility cannot stop at one’s home, community, caste, religion or nation. It extends towards humanity, nature and all living beings.
Message to the Indian Diaspora: Respect Your Karma Bhumi
Bhagwat also delivered a notable message to Indians living abroad, asking them to recognise their responsibilities towards the country in which they live.
He urged members of the Indian diaspora in America to remain loyal to their “karma bhumi”, or the land where they live and work, while retaining their relationship with their “janma bhumi”, the land of their birth.
The message positioned Hindu civilisational identity not as isolation from other societies, but as something that can coexist with responsible citizenship and contribution to the wider community.
Event Also Draws Political Opposition
The high-profile gathering was not without controversy. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani had publicly said ahead of the event that he did not support the gathering and criticised what he described as an exclusionary vision associated with the RSS. He also acknowledged uncertainty over whether the city had jurisdiction to cancel a private event. The RSS has disputed accusations of intolerance and describes itself as a Hindu-centric civilisational and cultural movement.
Whatever the political debate surrounding the RSS, Bhagwat’s New York addresses placed a series of distinctly spiritual questions before the audience: Can humanity recognise its underlying oneness despite its differences? Can development coexist with responsibility towards nature? Can material prosperity be balanced with inner fulfilment? And can religious consciousness translate into compassion and service?
Hindu Spirituality and the Idea of Universal Oneness

There are songs we listen to for entertainment, songs we remember for their melody, and then there are a few songs that become companions for life. “Chal Akela, Chal Akela” belongs to that rare category. More than five decades after its release, this unforgettable song from the 1969 Hindi film Sambandh remains remarkably relevant. Sung with extraordinary emotional depth by Mukesh, written by legendary poet and lyricist Kavi Pradeep, and composed by O.P. Nayyar, the song is much more than a beautiful creation of Hindi cinema. For me, it is one of our greatest songs of motivation, self-belief, resilience and spiritual strength.
Sambandh, released in 1969, was directed by Ajoy Biswas and featured Deb Mukherjee, Anjana Mumtaz and Pradeep Kumar in prominent roles, along with actors including Sulochana Latkar, Achala Sachdev, Abhi Bhattacharya, Nana Palsikar, Leela Mishra and Jankidas. The film explored relationships, family, separation, identity and emotional struggle. Against this backdrop, Chal Akela acquires a meaning much larger than its cinematic situation. The protagonist’s journey becomes symbolic of the journey each one of us undertakes in life, where circumstances change unexpectedly and people who once walked beside us may not always remain with us.
The central philosophy of the song is simple but profound. Life does not guarantee permanent companionship. Friends may leave, relationships may break, businesses may fail, jobs may disappear and people who once supported us may suddenly become distant. We may lose somebody we love or find ourselves alone while facing a difficult decision. Yet the disappearance of the crowd does not mean that the journey is over. The road remains, and so does our responsibility to continue walking. That is why Chal Akela is not, in my understanding, a song about loneliness. It is a song about finding courage when companionship disappears.
This message has become even more important in today’s highly connected world. We have social-media followers, WhatsApp groups, professional networks, likes, comments, shares and endless opportunities for communication. Yet we are increasingly dependent on external validation. We want approval for our appearance, relationships, careers, achievements and even our happiness. The philosophy of Chal Akela challenges this dependence. When nobody accompanies you, the song asks you to discover a relationship with yourself. Before expecting the world to believe in you, learn to believe in yourself. Before depending entirely upon others for happiness, discover the strength that already exists within you.
Kavi Pradeep’s writing makes the song particularly powerful because it does not pretend that life will always be easy. It acknowledges suffering as a universal human experience. Whether someone is rich or poor, famous or unknown, young or old, everyone experiences pain. Someone loses love, someone loses money, someone loses a career, someone loses a dream, and sometimes a person loses faith in himself. The question is not whether suffering will ever come. The real question is what we do when it comes. The answer of Chal Akela is to keep moving.
Mukesh makes this philosophy deeply human. There is sadness and vulnerability in his voice, but there is no surrender. He does not sing like someone delivering a motivational lecture. He sounds like a fellow traveller who understands pain and still asks us to continue. That is what makes the motivation believable. O.P. Nayyar’s composition beautifully supports this emotion without overwhelming Kavi Pradeep’s words. The music allows the philosophy to breathe, giving the song a reflective quality that has helped it remain timeless.
The song also carries an important lesson for entrepreneurs, professionals, artists, filmmakers, writers and anyone trying to create something meaningful. When you begin something new, everybody may not understand your vision. When you fail, some people may disappear. When you succeed, many may return. I have always believed that the crowd can encourage us, but the crowd cannot become the source of our conviction. That conviction must come from within. One failure is not our complete story, one broken relationship is not the end of love, one rejected idea is not the end of creativity, and one difficult chapter cannot define an entire life.
For me, the deepest meaning of Chal Akela is spiritual. Walking alone does not necessarily mean being lonely. Solitude can become an opportunity to understand ourselves. Spirituality teaches us to look within rather than constantly searching outside. Someone can teach us meditation, but we must meditate. Someone can explain compassion, but we must practise it. A Guru can show us a spiritual path, but ultimately we must walk that path ourselves. Our families, friends and teachers can support us, but nobody else can complete our inner journey on our behalf.
That is why Chal Akela does not belong to any particular generation or age group. It belongs to everyone. The world of 1969 and the world of today may be dramatically different, but human emotions remain similar. We still experience love and loss, companionship and loneliness, success and failure, hope and disappointment. More than half a century later, this masterpiece by Mukesh, Kavi Pradeep and O.P. Nayyar continues to remind us that however difficult the road may become, there is still much of life left to experience. “Chal Akela, Chal Akela” is motivation set to music, spirituality expressed through cinema and a timeless lesson in resilience: when the crowd disappears, do not stop—keep walking.

PM Modi Takes India’s Spiritual Gift of Yoga to Tashkent, Calls It a Bridge Beyond Borders
Prime Minister joins Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan session during State Visit; growing popularity of Yoga highlights India-Uzbekistan cultural ties and the universal appeal of India’s ancient tradition of harmony between body, mind and soul
Tashkent: Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought India’s ancient spiritual tradition of Yoga into focus during his State Visit to Uzbekistan as he participated in a special yoga programme organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on Sunday, August 30.
The programme, held during the Prime Minister’s two-day visit to the Central Asian nation, brought together yoga practitioners and young participants in a demonstration of a tradition that originated in India but has grown into a global movement for physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Modi interacted with participants as they performed yoga and later joined them for a group photograph.
The official Press Information Bureau also documented Modi’s participation in the programme at the Hilton Hotel in Tashkent. The event was one of several engagements during his August 29–30 State Visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Mirziyoyev also conferred Uzbekistan’s highest state honour, the Order of “Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik”, on Modi in recognition of his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
Against this diplomatic backdrop, the yoga session added an important people-to-people and cultural dimension to the visit.
Governments can strengthen relations through agreements and strategic partnerships, but cultural traditions often build connections at a more personal level. Yoga is particularly suited to such cultural exchange because people can experience and practise it directly.
Yoga Belongs to India, Its Message Can Serve Humanity
India’s contribution of yoga to the world represents an important example of how ancient spiritual knowledge can remain relevant in modern times.
The global popularity of yoga does not diminish its Indian spiritual roots. Instead, its acceptance across continents demonstrates how a tradition born from India’s ancient civilisation can carry a universal message.

At a time when humanity faces war, social division, environmental pressures and growing mental-health challenges, the principles of balance, mindfulness, self-control, inner peace and interconnectedness associated with the broader yogic tradition have renewed relevance.
The sight of young people practising yoga in Tashkent while the Indian Prime Minister interacted with them was therefore symbolic of something larger: India’s spiritual heritage crossing borders without demanding uniformity.

मुंबई: गो स्पिरिचुअल के संस्थापक सोनू त्यागी ने लेखक और मिथक विशेषज्ञ देवदत्त पटनायक के शाकाहार, मांसाहार और प्राचीन हिंदू ग्रंथों को लेकर दिए गए विचारों का कड़ा विरोध किया है। त्यागी ने कहा कि शाकाहार, अहिंसा, करुणा और जीवों के प्रति दया हिंदू और सनातन धर्म के मूल आदर्श हैं। हजारों साल पुराने ग्रंथों के कुछ चुनिंदा संदर्भों के आधार पर सनातन धर्म की पूरी सोच और परंपरा को नहीं समझा जा सकता।
हाल में देवदत्त पटनायक ने शाकाहार और मांसाहार को लेकर अपने विचार रखे हैं। उन्होंने प्राचीन हिंदू ग्रंथों में पशु बलि और मांस खाने से जुड़े कई संदर्भों का जिक्र किया है। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने शाकाहार को जाति, शुद्धता और सामाजिक ताकत जैसे विषयों से भी जोड़ा है।
सोनू त्यागी का कहना है कि हिंदू और सनातन धर्म को केवल इस आधार पर नहीं देखा जा सकता कि हजारों साल पहले किसी समय कुछ लोग क्या खाते थे या उस समय कौन-सी प्रथाएं प्रचलित थीं। सनातन धर्म की असली ताकत उसकी आध्यात्मिक सोच और समय के साथ मनुष्य को बेहतर और दयालु बनाने की शिक्षा में है।
सोनू त्यागी ने कहा, “सनातन धर्म हमें दया, प्रेम, अहिंसा, संयम और सभी जीवों के सम्मान की शिक्षा देता है। मेरे लिए शाकाहार केवल भोजन की आदत नहीं है। यह जीवों के प्रति दया और अहिंसा का रास्ता है। अगर हम किसी जीव को मारे बिना स्वस्थ जीवन जी सकते हैं, तो केवल स्वाद के लिए किसी जीव की जान क्यों ली जाए?”
उन्होंने कहा कि शाकाहार को केवल जाति से जोड़कर देखना भी सही नहीं है। दया किसी एक जाति या समाज की नहीं होती। कोई भी व्यक्ति, चाहे वह किसी भी जाति, धर्म, वर्ग या विचार से आता हो, जीवों के प्रति दया रख सकता है और शाकाहार अपना सकता है।
त्यागी ने कहा, “जिस जानवर को काटने के लिए ले जाया जा रहा है, उसे हमारी जाति या राजनीति से कोई मतलब नहीं है। वह केवल डर और दर्द महसूस करता है। वह भी जीना चाहता है। इसलिए सवाल बहुत सीधा है—अगर हमारे पास बिना किसी जानवर को मारे भोजन करने का विकल्प है, तो हमें दया का रास्ता क्यों नहीं चुनना चाहिए?”
उन्होंने यह भी साफ किया कि केवल शाकाहारी होने से कोई व्यक्ति अपने आप अच्छा इंसान नहीं बन जाता। इंसान की अच्छाई उसके पूरे व्यवहार और कर्मों से तय होती है। लेकिन इसका यह मतलब भी नहीं है कि भोजन के लिए किसी जीव की जान लेने के सवाल को नजरअंदाज कर दिया जाए।
त्यागी ने कहा, “कोई शाकाहारी व्यक्ति भी गलत काम कर सकता है और कोई मांसाहारी व्यक्ति कई अच्छे गुणों वाला हो सकता है। हमारा उद्देश्य किसी इंसान को छोटा या बड़ा बताना नहीं है। हमारा सवाल केवल इतना है कि जहां हिंसा से बचा जा सकता है, वहां हम अहिंसा को क्यों न चुनें?”
गो स्पिरिचुअल का कहना है कि प्राचीन हिंदू साहित्य बहुत विशाल है। ये ग्रंथ अलग-अलग समय में लिखे गए और उनमें अलग-अलग तरह के धार्मिक, सामाजिक और आध्यात्मिक विचार मिलते हैं। इसलिए किसी एक समय या किसी एक प्रथा को पूरे सनातन धर्म की पहचान बना देना ठीक नहीं है।
सोनू त्यागी ने कहा, “अगर इतिहास में कहीं मांस खाने या पशु बलि का उल्लेख मिलता भी है, तो उसे छिपाने की जरूरत नहीं है। लेकिन केवल उन्हीं बातों को उठाकर यह कहना भी सही नहीं है कि यही सनातन धर्म की पहचान है। इतिहास हमें बताता है कि अलग–अलग समय में क्या हुआ, जबकि धर्म हमें सिखाता है कि हमें किस दिशा में आगे बढ़ना चाहिए।”
उन्होंने कहा कि हिंदू ग्रंथों में अहिंसा, जीव-दया और मांस से दूर रहने की शिक्षा भी मिलती है। मनुस्मृति के अध्याय 5 में मांस और जीवों को होने वाली हानि पर विचार करते हुए मांस से दूर रहने की बात कही गई है। इसी तरह महाभारत के अनुशासन पर्व में भी मांस त्याग और जीवों के प्रति दया पर विस्तार से चर्चा मिलती है।
त्यागी ने कहा कि अगर प्राचीन ग्रंथों में मांस खाने से जुड़े संदर्भों की चर्चा की जाती है, तो उन्हीं ग्रंथों में मौजूद अहिंसा, दया और मांस त्याग की शिक्षाओं की भी चर्चा होनी चाहिए।
उन्होंने कहा, “हमें आधी बात नहीं, पूरी बात देखनी चाहिए। अगर किसी ग्रंथ में मांस से जुड़ा कोई संदर्भ है तो उसकी चर्चा कीजिए, लेकिन उसी परंपरा में अहिंसा और जीव–दया की जो मजबूत शिक्षा है, उसे भी सामने रखिए।”
सोनू त्यागी ने भगवद्गीता में सात्विक भोजन की शिक्षा का भी जिक्र किया। उन्होंने कहा कि गीता में ऐसे भोजन को महत्व दिया गया है जो जीवन, स्वास्थ्य, शक्ति, सुख और शांति बढ़ाए। भगवद्गीता 9.26 में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण प्रेम और भक्ति से अर्पित पत्र, पुष्प, फल और जल को स्वीकार करने की बात कहते हैं।

पौधों में भी जीवन होने के तर्क पर सोनू त्यागी ने कहा कि जीवन में हर तरह की हिंसा को पूरी तरह खत्म करना संभव नहीं हो सकता, लेकिन इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि जिस हिंसा से बचा जा सकता है, उसे भी सही मान लिया जाए।
उन्होंने कहा, “अहिंसा का बहुत सरल मतलब है—जितना संभव हो, उतना कम नुकसान करें। अगर हम किसी जीव की जान बचा सकते हैं तो हमें उसकी जान बचानी चाहिए। यही दया है और यही आध्यात्मिकता है।”
सोनू त्यागी ने कहा कि शाकाहार के मुद्दे को ब्राह्मण, बनिया, दलित, आदिवासी या किसी अन्य जाति के बीच लड़ाई नहीं बनाया जाना चाहिए। किसी भी जाति के सभी लोगों को एक जैसा बताना गलत है। दया और क्रूरता किसी जाति की पहचान नहीं हो सकती।
उन्होंने कहा, “करुणा की कोई जाति नहीं होती। अहिंसा की कोई जाति नहीं होती। जीव–दया की कोई राजनीति नहीं होनी चाहिए। सनातन धर्म हमें बांटने के बजाय सभी जीवों में जीवन का सम्मान करना सिखाता है।”

Go Spiritual says selective references to ancient meat-eating cannot define Sanatan Dharma, which has championed Ahimsa, Karuna, Sattvic living and compassion towards all living beings
Mumbai : Sonu Tyagi, Founder of Go Spiritual, has strongly countered recent arguments by mythologist and author Devdutt Pattanaik on vegetarianism, caste and references to meat-eating in ancient Hindu literature, asserting that Hindu and Sanatani culture has a profound and enduring tradition of vegetarianism, Ahimsa, compassion and reverence for all living beings.
Tyagi’s response comes in the wake of Pattanaik’s recent commentary on vegetarianism and meat-eating, including arguments linking vegetarian identity with caste, purity and power, alongside references to animal sacrifice and meat consumption in Vedic and other ancient Sanskrit literature. Tyagi said that selective references from texts composed across different historical periods cannot be presented as the defining character of Sanatan Dharma while its vast spiritual traditions of Ahimsa, Daya, Karuna, Sattva and respect for life are pushed into the background.
“Sanatan Dharma must be understood through its highest spiritual ideals and not reduced to a catalogue of what someone may have eaten or sacrificed thousands of years ago. Its spiritual journey takes human consciousness towards compassion, self-restraint, purity and respect for life. For Go Spiritual, vegetarianism is a natural expression of that journey,” said Tyagi.
He strongly disagreed with attempts to interpret India’s vegetarian traditions predominantly through the prism of caste and political power. According to Tyagi, compassion cannot belong to any particular caste, class or political ideology. “An animal being taken for slaughter does not know whether the person protecting it is a Brahmin, Baniya, Dalit, tribal, Hindu, Jain, Buddhist or atheist. It knows fear, pain and the desire to remain alive. Turning vegetarianism into caste warfare distracts us from the fundamental ethical question: when human beings can nourish themselves without deliberately killing an animal, why should an animal have to die for our taste?”
Tyagi clarified that Go Spiritual does not argue that vegetarianism alone makes a person morally superior. A person’s character, he said, cannot be determined simply by what is on his or her plate. However, that does not make the ethical consequences of dietary choices irrelevant. “A vegetarian can be a bad human being and a non-vegetarian can possess many admirable qualities. But that does not change the reality of an animal losing its life for food. Vegetarianism should not be about declaring ourselves superior; it should be about trying to cause less suffering.”
Go Spiritual maintained that ancient Hindu literature represents an enormous and historically layered tradition encompassing different periods, rituals, philosophical schools and interpretations. References to animal sacrifice or meat consumption, Tyagi said, should neither be dishonestly erased nor selectively elevated into the eternal moral message of Hindu civilisation.
“Even if scholarship establishes that certain people consumed meat or particular ancient sacrifices involved animals, does that automatically make animal killing a spiritual ideal for a Hindu living today? History can tell us what human beings sometimes did. Dharma asks us what human beings ought to become,” Tyagi said.
He pointed out that Hindu literature itself contains powerful teachings supporting abstention from meat and compassion towards living creatures. Manusmriti 5.48 links obtaining meat with injury to living beings and consequently advocates abstention, while the following verse asks people to contemplate the origin of flesh and the bondage and killing of creatures. The Mahabharata’s Anushasana Parva contains an extensive discourse on abstention from meat, compassion towards creatures and the spiritual merit associated with avoiding flesh.
“If passages apparently referring to meat consumption are considered legitimate evidence of Hindu tradition, then passages explicitly advocating abstention and compassion must be given equal, if not greater, attention. Intellectual fairness demands that we acknowledge the complete spiritual conversation rather than selecting only those passages that support a predetermined conclusion,” Tyagi said.
Tyagi also highlighted the Bhagavad Gita’s emphasis on Sattvic food. Bhagavad Gita 17.8 describes foods associated with Sattva as those promoting life, purity, strength, health, happiness and satisfaction, while Bhagavad Gita 9.26 speaks of Lord Krishna accepting with devotion an offering of a leaf, flower, fruit or water. Tyagi said these teachings have helped inspire generations of vegetarian Hindu households, temples, saints, devotees and spiritual institutions.
“Look at the tradition of Prasad, the vegetarian practices of numerous Vaishnava traditions and the emphasis placed upon Sattvic food by generations of spiritual teachers. Vegetarian spirituality is not a modern political invention. It is a living and deeply rooted part of Hindu and Sanatani culture,” he said.
According to Tyagi, Ahimsa represents one of Indian civilisation’s most significant spiritual contributions because it expands the circle of compassion beyond human beings. Animals experience fear, pain and an instinctive desire for survival, he said, and spirituality should increase humanity’s sensitivity towards that suffering rather than provide intellectual arguments for ignoring it.
Addressing the frequently raised argument that plants are also living, Tyagi said the impossibility of eliminating every form of harm does not justify avoidable suffering. “Ahimsa in everyday life can also mean choosing the path of minimum harm. The fact that human existence cannot eliminate every form of injury cannot become an excuse to cause suffering that we have the reasonable ability to avoid.”
Tyagi said Hindu society should celebrate its compassionate spiritual heritage rather than allowing food to become another source of caste or political division. He also rejected sweeping attacks on Brahmins, Banias, Dalits, tribal communities or any other social group, saying no community has a monopoly over either compassion or cruelty.
“We do not need to erase history to defend Sanatan Dharma, but neither should selective readings of history be used to diminish its magnificent traditions of vegetarianism, Ahimsa and compassion.
