First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression

On the first day, I attended an orientation session where the NGO’s objectives and working structure were explained. I received project assignments and guidance. The office environment was professional and supportive. My first impression was positive, as the mentors were approachable and encouraged practical learning.

Main Tasks

My main tasks included legal research on Budget Analysis 2026, the Bihar Prisoner Manual Act (Sections 660–678), and the validity of temple marriage without rituals.

I attended court proceedings in Civil Court, Sessions Court, Railway Court, and the Mediation Centre. I drafted and filed an RTI application regarding prisoners signing legal documents.

I participated in workshops on the POCSO and JJ Act and performed Nukkad Natak on social discrimination issues. I also assisted in understanding case files and court procedures.

Work Environment

The work environment was professional, educational, and supportive. Seniors and mentors guided us patiently. Interns were encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in research and field visits.

The NGO balanced legal work with social service, creating a dynamic and learning-oriented atmosphere.

Good Things about the Internship

The best part was the practical court exposure and mediation observation. I gained a real understanding of legal procedures, FIR, alimony, domestic violence, and cheque bounce cases.

Community visits and women empowerment programs gave me social awareness. The internship improved my research, drafting, and communication skills.

Bad Things about the Internship

There were no major negative aspects. However, sometimes the schedule was tight due to court timings and field visits, which required proper time management. Overall, it was a valuable learning experience.

Details about the accommodation and commuting to the Office

I stayed in Patna and commuted daily to the office at Kankarbagh and various courts, including Civil Court, Danapur Court, and Railway Court. The commute was manageable through local transport. For field visits like Jahanabad (community services and workshop), we travelled in the morning and returned the same day.

The travel experience helped me understand ground realities and improved my time management skills.

Anything else you’d like to share?

This internship helped me gain practical exposure to court procedures, mediation, RTI filing, and legal research. I learned how the law works beyond textbooks, especially in matrimonial disputes, POCSO matters, and railway cases.

Community visits and Nukkad Natak improved my communication skills and confidence. I also learned teamwork, discipline, and professional ethics. It was a transformative experience for my legal career.
