About the Conference

Saveetha School of Law is organising a One-Day International Conference on “Emerging Challenges in Consumer Protection in the Digital Marketplace and Strengthening India’s Legal Framework.” The conference is sponsored by J. Ashish Associates LLP.

The conference seeks to critically examine the evolving legal, statutory, and market dynamics governing digital consumer transactions. It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of existing statutory safeguards, particularly under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, alongside international regulatory frameworks.

The conference will bring together legal scholars, academicians, AI technologists, industry experts, and practitioners to discuss contemporary issues affecting digital consumer protection.

Themes

Submissions are invited on the following themes, among others:

  • Transition from Traditional E-Commerce to Social Commerce: Market Dynamics, Platform Duties, and Consumer Behaviour
  • Statutory Safeguards and Enforceability under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020
  • Influencer Marketing and Transparency
  • Dark Patterns and Manipulative Design
  • Data Privacy in Social Commerce under the DPDP Act
  • Unverified Third-Party Vendors and Marketplace Liability
  • AI and Pricing Algorithms
  • Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)

Authors may also submit papers on any topic aligned with the main theme of the conference.

Venue: Laser Court Hall, Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract should not exceed 250 words.
  • The abstract must include the title, author details, institutional affiliation, contact number, and email ID.
  • Full paper should be 3,000–5,000 words (including footnotes).
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Main text: 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing
  • Footnotes: 10 pt, single spacing
  • Citation Style: ILI Style or OSCOLA (4th Edition).
  • Plagiarism must not exceed 10%.
  • AI-generated content must be below 5%.

Registration Fee

  • Students (Online/Offline/Hybrid): ₹200
  • Ph.D. Research Scholars, Academicians & Legal Professionals: ₹500
  • Co-authorship (per additional author): ₹150

Publication Opportunity

All selected and accepted conference papers will be published in an edited book with an ISBN.
