About CELCJ
The Centre for Environmental Law and Climate Justice (CELCJ) at WBNUJS is dedicated to promoting research, policy dialogue, and academic engagement in the fields of environmental law, sustainability, climate governance, and ecological justice. The Centre regularly undertakes academic and policy-oriented initiatives aimed at fostering awareness and informed discourse on contemporary environmental concerns.
About the Event
World Environment Day, observed annually on 5 June, is the United Nations’ foremost platform for encouraging awareness and action toward environmental protection. Since its inception following the 1972 Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, the day has evolved into a global movement promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
In recent years, the intensification of climate-related disasters, biodiversity loss, ecological degradation, and environmental vulnerabilities has highlighted the urgent need for collaborative and multidisciplinary approaches to climate action and environmental governance. In this context, the Panel Discussion aims to provide a platform for informed dialogue on legal, institutional, and policy dimensions of environmental protection and climate justice.
