The World No. 1 outplayed Djokovic from start to finish, reaching his fifth Grand Slam final where he will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev on Sunday.
Sinner, who had lost to Djokovic in the semi-finals of this year’s Australian Open, turned the tables with a near-flawless performance, not facing a single break point for almost two hours as he dictated play from the baseline.
The Italian landed the decisive blow in the opening set by breaking serve in the ninth game with a stunning backhand winner down the line before serving out the set.
Djokovic briefly resisted in the second, but Sinner broke at 3-3 after producing a perfectly disguised drop shot that left the seven-time Wimbledon champion stranded.
The top seed seized control early in the third set with another break of serve and never allowed Djokovic a route back into the contest, completing the straight-sets victory in clinical fashion.
The defeat marked another setback in Djokovic’s pursuit of an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam singles title and an eighth Wimbledon crown.
The 39-year-old appeared to be feeling the effects of a demanding fortnight, having already spent more than 16 hours on court, including the tournament’s longest match against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals.
Sinner, meanwhile, has steadily improved with every round after surviving an early scare in his title defence and will now aim to capture a fifth Grand Slam title when he takes on Zverev in Sunday’s championship match.
