As temperatures rise in Uttar Pradesh, the education department has taken action to address concerns about heat-related illnesses. Starting from April 25, schools in Lucknow for students from Class 1 to Class 12 will operate from 7:30 am to 1 pm. This decision aims to protect children from the intense heat, as cases of heatstroke have been reported in different areas. This initiative, mandated by the district magistrate of Lucknow, Surya Pal Gangwar, is a precautionary measure against the increasing temperatures during the day. It applies to all schools, including those under different boards and private institutions, until further notice. District officials have emphasized that the new timing, which covers the early morning to midday, is crucial for ensuring the well-being of students. Following Lucknow’s example, several other districts in Uttar Pradesh are also adjusting school schedules.
District magistrates in various regions are issuing orders to change timings for both government and private schools, focusing on classes from nursery to Class 8. In some districts, schools will operate from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, while in others, classes will continue until 1 pm. These decisions demonstrate a proactive response to the health risks posed by extreme heat.
Parents have welcomed this move, expressing relief over the measures taken to protect their children. With heatwave alerts issued in many states, concerns about students’ health have escalated. The adjusted school timings alleviate worries about prolonged exposure to high temperatures, reducing the risk of heat-related illnesses. The education department’s decision to modify school timings in Uttar Pradesh highlights their commitment to prioritize the health and safety of students amidst rising temperatures. By implementing early morning schedules, authorities aim to minimize the negative effects of severe heat on children, providing reassurance to parents across the state.
