Issue notice.
Ms. P.S. Nongbri, learned counsel is present and accepts notice on
behalf of the respondents Nos. 1, 2 & 3, and Mr. G.J. Nongphud, learned
counsel is present on behalf of the respondent No. 4, so no further notice
is called for.
This matter is connected to WP(C) No. 159 of 2026, wherein the
notification dated 08.04.2026, is under challenge. The petitioner in the
instant writ petition is stated to be the Kur Syiemiong of Langrin
Syiemship.

Mr. S. Marpan, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the
removal of the Acting Syiem of Hima Langrin is in violation of Section-9
of The Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of
the Syiem, Deputy Syiem and Headman of Langrin Syiemship) Act,
2007, as there is no recommendation from the Syiem clan who are the
petitioners herein for appointment of the respondent No. 4, as Acting
Syiem, and as such the same being illegal, the impugned notification is
liable to be set aside.
Ms. P.S. Nongbri, learned counsel for the respondents Nos. 1, 2
& 3 has reiterated the submissions made in the connected writ petition and
submits that the recommendation has been received, however the same
could not be placed on record. She prays that she may be allowed to come
up with complete instructions on the next date.
Accordingly, as the interim order is operating in the connected writ
petition, list this matter on 17.04.2026.
