Singularity Legal is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific 2026 Awards under the category “Innovative Lawyers in Disputes & Crisis Management – Offshore Litigation.”
The recognition reflects Singularity’s role as lead counsel in a high-value, multi-jurisdictional dispute involving the wrongful withholding of about US$ 90 million following a client’s exit from a UAE-headquartered oil and gas joint venture.
Singularity led a coordinated arbitration and global enforcement strategy across the DIFC, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, and the Cayman Islands. The firm devised a dual-track approach—pursuing arbitration alongside urgent interim and enforcement relief—based on a detailed investigation that identified asset dissipation and misappropriation risks.
A key innovation was the use of a phased claim structure, separating debt and proprietary/tracing claims to align arbitration with enforcement objectives. Singularity secured a series of first-of-their-kind decisions by obtaining a proprietary and freezing injunction in the form of a provisional award and successfully enforcing it across multiple jurisdictions. This matter has been covered by Global Arbitration Review including its reporting on the first of its kind enforcement of the provisional award in the DIFC, Cayman Islands and Singapore.
This integrated strategy applied sustained commercial pressure, culminating in a global settlement achieved prior to a final award and exceeding the amount claimed in the first phase of the arbitration.
This shortlisting highlights Singularity’s strength in delivering innovative, enforcement-driven outcomes in complex cross-border disputes. The firm looks forward to the announcement of the final results of the awards. As cross-border disputes grow in complexity, Singularity remains focused on developing forward-looking strategies that not only resolve disputes efficiently but also shape emerging enforcement practices.
