About the Center for Budget and Policy Studies
The Centre for Budget and Policy Studies (CBPS) is a non-partisan, non-profit, independent public policy research institution based in Bengaluru. For the past twenty-eight years, we have been working in the areas of education, gender, livelihoods, public finance and governance, and health.
Our projects focus on research, evaluation and evidence-based policy making engaging with issues of equity, justice, empowerment, democracy and accountability.
About the Fellowship
The fellowship aims to help scholars develop research skills in the areas of education, gender, governance, health & nutrition, public finance, livelihoods and social security.
The fellows will work out of CBPS office in Bengaluru and will interact with our research staff to gain valuable experience, support, and learnings in a collegial and academically rigorous environment which includes in-house talks, seminars/ workshops as well as other public events.
With the help of a mentor, the fellowship will allow scholars to be part of the ongoing research projects in an area of interest to the scholar.
Stipend
The fellows will receive a stipend of ₹25,000/- per month and will also have access to office spaces and associated facilities including internet and use of the library.
The fellowship, however, does not provide funds for housing, transportation, or any other financial support.
Eligibility
- recently completed their Bachelor’s or are in the final year of their undergraduate programme
- encourages applications from historically underrepresented groups, including those underrepresented in terms of class, caste, gender, religion, linguistic affiliation, first-generation scholars etc.
- Scholars from various disciplines and methodological approaches are invited.

- Duration of the fellowship: One year starting from 01 August 2026 to 31 July 2027
- Last date for submission of application: 31 May 2026 (Before 11:59 p.m.)
- Announcement of the fellowships: 03 July 2026
