Actor Prakash Raj has expressed his confidence in the re-election of Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Raj believes that Tharoor has contributed significantly to the constituency and will secure victory once again. Raj stated that he supports Tharoor not only because of their friendship, but also because Tharoor has given him hope, happiness, and a voice as a representative of the country over the past decade.
Tharoor faces competition from Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrashekhar and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Panniyan Ravindran. Chandrashekhar, who has served as the MoS for Electronics, Entrepreneurship, and Information Technology, poses a strong challenge as the BJP’s candidate. It is worth noting that although the CPI-M is part of the INDIA bloc, there is no seat-sharing agreement between the party and the Congress in Kerala. The CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) has nominated CPI leader Pannyan Raveendran, who previously won the seat in 2005.
However, Tharoor faces tough competition from Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrashekhar, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate. Chandrashekhar’s experience as the Minister of State for Electronics, Entrepreneurship, and Information Technology makes him a formidable opponent. Additionally, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Panniyan Ravindran, nominated by the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), is also vying for the seat. It is important to note that although the CPI-M is part of the INDIA bloc, there is no seat-sharing agreement between the party and the Congress in Kerala.
Thrilled to have Shashi Tharoor back for another term! 🙌🏼✨ Looking forward to his incredible leadership and vision. #ShashiTharoor #Leadership #Vision
