PMS industry AUM grows over ₹43 lakh crore in June; client base rises 4%: APMI

India’s portfolio management services (PMS) industry saw its assets under management (AUM) rise to ₹43.3 lakh crore in June 2026, up 1.8% from the previous month, while the number of client accounts increased 4% to around 2.20 lakh, according to data released by the Association of Portfolio Managers in India (APMI).

The monthly AUM growth was higher than the 0.5% increase recorded in May. The discretionary PMS segment continued to account for the bulk of industry assets and led net inflows during the month.

According to the industry compendium, total net flows stood at ₹3.55 lakh crore in June. Equity assets under management increased 1.4% month-on-month, plain debt assets grew 1.2%, while allocations to mutual funds rose 14.6%, indicating broader diversification across portfolios.

Domestic investors continued to dominate the industry, accounting for 91% of client accounts and 95% of total AUM. Domestic AUM rose 1.9% during the month, while foreign AUM declined marginally by 0.2%.

Among domestic assets, provident fund and EPFO-related mandates accounted for nearly 79% of domestic AUM, the report said.

The report also noted that while plain debt contributed the most to the month’s AUM expansion, equity assets continued to record steady growth. Mutual fund allocations and structured debt investments also increased during the month, reflecting changing portfolio allocation strategies.
