While the quote, “Together, India will defeat COVID-19,” still attributes to the prime minister, his name has been deliberately left out from the certificates. In light of this development, many individuals in India have examined their vaccination certificates, prompted by discussions surrounding the possible association of Covishield with Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), a rare side effect involving blood clotting, following AstraZeneca’s acknowledgment in a UK court. On the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), some users have observed a significant change in the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph on the Covid-19 vaccination certificates issued in India. A user named Sandeep Manudhane from X expressed, “Modi ji is no longer visible on COVID vaccine certificates. I just downloaded mine to check – indeed, his picture is gone.”
