    About the Victim Advocacy Project

    The Victim Advocacy Project (VAP) at National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) is a justice-focused initiative aimed at strengthening victims’ access to the criminal justice system through structured legal representation and sustained advocacy. The project seeks to support victims throughout the criminal process—from FIR and investigation to trial, appeal, and rehabilitation—while promoting victim-centric and rights-based legal practice.

    About the Fellowship

    NLU Delhi is inviting applications for the Litigation Fellowship under the Victim Advocacy Project.

    This 18-month immersive fellowship is designed for early-career lawyers interested in criminal litigation and victim rights advocacy. Fellows will work directly with victims of crime, undertake end-to-end case management, appear before courts, and receive mentorship from senior lawyers and organisations along with structured training from NLU Delhi.

    Fellowship Details

    • Position: Litigation Fellow
    • Type of Engagement: Contractual (Retainer Basis)
    • Duration: 18 Months
    • Joining Date: 1 July 2026
    • Location: Delhi NCR

    Eligibility

    Applicants must:

    • Hold an LL.B. degree (3-year or 5-year programme)
    • Have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA
    • Be enrolled with a State Bar Council
    • Have qualified the All India Bar Examination (AIBE)
    • Possess a minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, preferably in criminal trial courts
    • Have working knowledge of criminal laws, court procedures, and the new criminal law framework
    • Demonstrate experience in legal research, drafting, and court proceedings
    • Be capable of independently managing litigation responsibilities and working within a team

    Desirable Qualifications

    Preference may be given to candidates who have:

    • An interest in victim rights advocacy and victim-centric criminal jurisprudence
    • Experience working with vulnerable communities or grassroots organisations

    Key Responsibilities

    • Handle assigned criminal matters across investigation, trial, appeal, and rehabilitation stages
    • Appear and argue before courts and assist in legal proceedings
    • Work directly with victims and their families using a trauma-informed and rights-based approach
    • Coordinate with prosecutors, investigators, legal services authorities, and community organisations
    • Maintain regular communication with assigned mentors
    • Prepare and submit case notes, research outputs, and documentation to NLU Delhi for supervision and reporting

    Stipend

    ₹30,000 per month
