About NHRC
The National Human Rights Commission is mandated to generate awareness for the protection and promotion of Human Rights, vide Section 12 (h) of the of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. With a view to spread awareness among University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting Internship Programmes since 1998.
About OSTI
For the Month of May, 2026, a two-week “Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – May, 2026” will commence from 18th to 29th May, 2026.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from eligible students across the country. Eligibility and selection criteria will be as follows:
- Students studying in 3rd year and onwards of any integrated 5 year PG Course;
- Students studying in 3rd / final year of a graduation course;
- Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate degree course (also applicable to the students in three year LL.B programme);
- Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate diploma course;
- Students who are research scholars in any stream.
- Students must have attained a minimum of 60% marks in Class-XII and in first 4 Semesters of graduation course/ five-year integrated course. The calculated percentage has to be mentioned clearly from their CGPA/SGPA along with the formula for percentage obtained. Failure to do either of it would result in rejection of application form.
Selection Process
- Submit a 250 word Statement of Purpose on “Reason for Joining as Intern in NHRC” with the online application.
- Selection based on: Class XII (30 marks), Graduation (40 marks), Statement of Purpose (30 marks).
- Preference for candidates with research potential in Human Rights.
- Students who have attended any Internship Programmes organized by NHRC earlier will not be eligible to apply.
Duration
A two-week virtual internship programme offering valuable learning experiences and practical exposure to human rights. 18th to 29th May, 2026.
No. of Intake
Approximately 100 interns are selected.
Stipend
₹2,000.
