    About CARCIL

    The Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate and Insolvency Laws (CARCIL) is a Centre of Excellence that facilitates research in corporate law, governance, insolvency, and allied laws in India. The center undertakes research projects and organises academic workshops, lectures, conferences, and faculty development programs to advance corporate and insolvency laws while fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation.

    About the Competition

    The CNLU–CARCIL National Deal Negotiation Competition on FinTech Laws is a practice-oriented initiative aimed at equipping participants with essential negotiation and transactional skills within the rapidly evolving fintech landscape. The competition simulates real-world commercial negotiations at the intersection of finance, technology, and law, enabling participants to engage with contemporary transactional challenges.

    The competition is designed to assess negotiation skills, commercial awareness, legal reasoning, and adaptability in dynamic transactional settings. Prizes and other recognitions will be awarded.

    Team Structure

    Each team shall comprise two members, who will assume distinct, fixed roles throughout the competition:

    Participants must strictly adhere to the responsibilities and limitations of their assigned role during all rounds.

    Competition Structure

    The competition will be conducted in three stages:

    • Stage I: Negotiation Plan Submission along with the initial registration fee.
    • Stage II (Virtual): Preliminary Negotiation Round. The top 24 teams from Stage I will qualify for the virtual rounds.
    • Stage III (On-Campus): Quarter-Final and Final Rounds. The top 8 teams will participate in live negotiation rounds involving complex, real-world-inspired fintech transactions. The on-campus rounds are scheduled for September 5, 2026.

    Eligibility

    Applications are open to:

    • Students pursuing a full-time 3-year or 5-year LL.B. program from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India or the relevant statutory authority.
    • Students enrolled in LL.M. programs from recognized universities accredited by the UGC.
    • Undergraduate or postgraduate students in finance, management, economics, or allied disciplines from recognized universities.

    Registration Fee

    • At the time of final registration and submission of the negotiation plan, Rs. 2,000 per team.
    • After qualifying for the Preliminary Negotiation Round (Top 24): Rs. 3,000 per team.

    • Commencement of Provisional Registrations & Release of Pre-Invite: June 22, 2026
    • Release of Problem Statement & Commencement of Final Registration: July 5, 2026
    • Last Date for Clarifications: July 14, 2026
    • Last Date for Final Registration & Submission of Negotiation Plan: July 19, 2026
    • Intimation to Top 24 Selected Teams: July 30, 2026
    • Preliminary Negotiation Rounds (Virtual): August 16, 2026
    • Intimation to Top 8 Selected Teams & Release of Rank List: August 18, 2026
    • On-Campus Rounds: September 5, 2026

    Registration Process

    Interested teams are required to register through the Provisional Registration Form and thereafter comply with the timelines and requirements set out in the official rulebook.

    Participants are advised to refer to the Rulebook for detailed information regarding the negotiation plan format, code of conduct, and evaluation criteria.
