National Conference by Dr. Ambedkar Law University

About the Conference

The Department is organising a National Conference on “Artificial Intelligence and the Criminal Justice System” on 18–19 June 2026.

The conference aims to examine the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence across criminal investigation, judicial decision-making, and governance, while addressing critical concerns relating to constitutional rights, accountability, transparency, and algorithmic bias.

It seeks to provide a multidisciplinary platform for academicians, practitioners, researchers, and industry experts to engage in meaningful dialogue on emerging legal and technological challenges.

Through thematic sessions, panel discussions, and research presentations, the conference aspires to foster informed discourse and contribute to the development of ethical, fair, and effective AI integration within the criminal justice system.

About the University

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu under Act No. 43 of 1997 with the objective of advancing and disseminating legal education, research, and scholarship.

Inaugurated by K. R. Narayanan on 20 September 1997, the University commenced its academic functions on 3 October 1997.

Named after B. R. Ambedkar, the University is recognized by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission under Sections 2(f) and 12(b), and is a member of national and international academic bodies including the Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

As a pioneering sui generis law university—the first of its kind in India and South Asia—it functions as the nodal institution for legal education in Tamil Nadu, offering programmes through its campus and affiliated colleges across major cities including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Tiruchirappalli.
