Lok Sabha Planning: PM Modi Arranged a 5-Hour-Long Meet of Top BJP Leaders at His Residence
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a nearly five-hour-long meeting of senior BJP leaders on June 28, at his official Residence in New Delhi. The meeting occurred just days after the Prime Minister’s return from his trip to the US and Egypt.
Narendra Modi had a 5-hour-long meeting on June 28, with Amit Shah and J.P Nadda, among others, to evaluate organizational and political matters concerning the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Sources predict a cabinet reshuffle on the horizon.
The meeting was aimed at discussing the organizational modifications, the formation of a roadmap, and strategizing a plan for the forthcoming elections in 2024.
Along with Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P Nadda, other senior BJP officials like B.L Santosh also participated in the late-night meeting. This extensive meeting of the BJP top brass gives rise to speculations of a party reshuffle. Apart from that, the leaders also resolved to divide the country into three zones for better management and attention for the Lok Sabha elections.
Creation of 3 separate zones
BJP has initiated its preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls to the grass-roots level. According to party sources, they have sketched out a plan for micro-management of their election campaign. Total 543 seats have been demarcated into three different zones, viz. North, South, and East; from the point of view of the organisation.
Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Daman & Diu- Dadra Nagar Haveli, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Haryana comprised the North zone.
The states of Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura were present in the East zone.
The South zone included Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Andaman & Nicobar, and Lakshadweep.
Separate meetings, strategies, issues, and responsibilities will be addressed on the above mentioned zonal basis.
The PM has directed ministers to concentrate on the underprivileged sections of the population and act on a hundred percent saturation of the government welfare schemes across these zones.
Speculation of a cabinet and party reshuffle
Speculation suggests that the late-night BJP meeting might have included conversations related to some changes in key positions in the organization as well as the cabinet.
NCP Chief Praful Patel who abandoned his former mentor Sharad Pawar to be on his nephew, Ajit Pawar’s side, could be chosen as one of the new ministers in the central government. Also, with Ajit Pawar taking up the post of Deputy CM of Maharashtra, rumors suggest Devendra Fatnavis being brought into the central government.
A defeat in the Karnataka assembly has also prompted the BJP’s top brass to change its campaign plans for the next crucial state elections. Therefore, the BJP’s organization may also see some reshuffle on the state as well as national level. Any cabinet rearrangement will affect the upcoming assembly elections too.
The sources predict a possible reshuffle before the Parliament’s Monsoon Session.
