About the Victim Advocacy Project
VAP is a justice-focused initiative aimed at strengthening victims’ access to the criminal justice system through structured legal representation and sustained advocacy.
The Project addresses long-standing gaps in legal assistance and victim participation by providing continuous, professional support from FIR to trial, appeal, and rehabilitation. It seeks to re-centre victims as rights-bearing individuals within adversarial proceedings and to build an adaptable model of victim advocacy through the integration of litigation, research, and field engagement.
About the Fellowship
The Litigation Fellowship 18 month immersive programme for early-career lawyers to engage in hands-on criminal litigation while working directly with victims of crime. Fellows will undertake end-to-end casework, including legal strategy, drafting, court appearances, and stakeholder coordination, while working closely with vulnerable victims and their families.
Fellows will be attached to mentors (senior lawyers and organisations), and will receive continuous supervision from NLU Delhi, along with structured training and capacity-building support. The Fellowship is designed to build a cadre of lawyers committed to victim-centric, trauma-informed legal practice and to strengthening victim participation within the criminal justice process.
