Kumar Anjani has joined GMR Group as head legal (IPR & IT). In this role, he will oversee the Group’s end‑to‑end IP and technology legal strategy, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, technology licensing, brand protection, data protection, digital contracts and IP enforcement. Prior to joining GMR Anjani was the head IPR at Panasonic India.
He brings extensive experience in working with inventors and brand owners to safeguard their intellectual property rights. His expertise spans strategic IP planning, extraction, filing, prosecution, protection, enforcement and portfolio management with a specialisation in international IP activities and IT law.
Prior to joining Panasonic, he served as Lead–IP in the Intellectual Property division of Welspun Group, where his responsibilities centered on patent and trademark protection. Before Welspun, he worked as Manager (Legal – Brand Protection) at Sun Pharma, actively contributing to trademark integration and harmonization after the Sun–Ranbaxy merger.
Anjani also managed and headed the Mumbai office of Brain League, now known as BananalP.
In a conversation with ETLegalWorld, Anjani said he is excited to join GMR Group and looks forward to strengthening the Group’s IP and technology legal framework to support long‑term growth and innovation.
