Stars To Perform At CWG 2026 Opening Ceremony In Glasgow

Glasgow is set to host the Commonwealth Games for the second time in 12 years. For the first time in the event’s history, the opening ceremony will be held entirely indoors. Here’s what you need to know.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 23, at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to attend, with the King formally declaring the Games open by reading the message he placed inside the King’s Baton at Buckingham Palace on Commonwealth Day, March 10, 2025.
Six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy, the baton’s first bearer, will also feature in the ceremony.
Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter KT Tunstall has been announced as the headline performer.
She will be joined by fellow Scottish artists Callum Beattie, Nina Nesbitt, Nathan Evans, and the duo Saint PHNX.
Electronic folk duo Valtos will perform during the Parade of Nations.
Brit Award-winning singer Tom Walker was added to the line-up in mid-July.

The 2026 Games will introduce a new tradition of holding the opening ceremony entirely indoors. Additionally, the medals will feature a world-first inclusive design with braille and tactile elements.
