ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯುವುದು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕಾಳಜಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ನಗರವು ತಂಪಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಮರಗಳು ನೆರಳು ಅಥವಾ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಅವು ಅನೇಕ ಜೀವಗಳಿಗೆ ನೆಲೆಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ನಾವು ಯಾರೇ ಆಗಿರಲಿ, ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡಲು ಹೊಂಡಗಳನ್ನು ಅಗೆಯಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಜೂನ್ 27 ರಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಇದನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿದರು. 12 ಗಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ 12 ಎಕರೆ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಡಿರುವ ಸುಮಾರು 80,000 ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕರು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡರು.
Bengaluru and her citizens came out in large numbers to plant nearly 80,000 saplings in 12 hours, on land parcels spread over 12 acres. The Bengaluru development authority (B.D.A) has assigned the responsibility of planting and maintaining these urban forests to E.F.I. Presenting the journey that has just begun towards this BlueGreen makeover of our beloved garden city.

The assigned land is adjacent to Nullah/Surface streams that lead to lakes in the region. These streams have buffer land parcels that often fall prey to encroachment. In an effort to protect these buffer area and maintain them as green corridors, this dedicated afforestation effort is being executed. Land being cleared of legacy waste, construction debris, dug up, tilled and packed with manure-rice husk and other organic nutrient compost to ensure a carbon rich bed for the plantation to thrive upon.
The land once prepared was ready for the mega plantation. With 1650 volunteers, 2050 labourers, in 12 hours, 80,000 saplings planted and supported with bamboo sticks. An activity that started around 6am on the morning of 27th extended until 18:40hrs in the evening. Berry-nectar-fruit bearing varieties planted and now being provided with necessary post plantation support.
