How did you apply?

The application was processed through the college placement cell. I submitted my CV along with other formalities as required by company policy. The placement cell coordinated with UST’s HR team, and I received confirmation of selection.

First Impressions & Initial Formalities

Stepping into UST Global felt like entering a completely different world, a truly global company with a cutting-edge corporate environment. UST is a multinational digital transformation solutions company, specializing in IT services, consulting, cybersecurity, cloud, and enterprise solutions.

Its legal department plays a crucial role in corporate compliance, contract management, intellectual property, and ensuring adherence to global data protection frameworks.

On arrival, we were provided with company laptops, security badges, and access credentials. The security systems and formalities were top-notch, reflecting the company’s emphasis on professionalism and confidentiality. The orientation gave us a high-end corporate experience, showcasing UST’s scale, innovation, and global reach.

Main Tasks

• Learning the functions of the legal department at UST, including compliance and advisory roles.
• Researching corporate compliance issues and legal implications of data breaches under global data protection frameworks (such as GDPR and related international standards).
• Conducting in-depth legal research on cybersecurity and data privacy laws, and preparing structured notes.
• Preparing and delivering a presentation on corporate compliance and data breach implications, connecting research findings with UST’s operational practices.
• Observing how the legal team collaborates with technical and corporate divisions to ensure risk management, regulatory compliance, and ethical governance.
• Exposure to contract review processes, intellectual property considerations, and dispute resolution mechanisms within a corporate IT setting.

Good Things about the Internship

This was one of the best experiences of my academic journey. It gave me first-hand exposure to the corporate law aspects of a global IT company. The legal team was supportive, humble, and highly professional, ensuring interns were treated as part of the team.

The internship provided a perfect balance between learning and practical exposure, with structured mentoring and opportunities to contribute meaningfully. The corporate environment emphasized work-life balance, innovation, and continuous learning, making it an inspiring place to work.

Bad Things about the Internship

There were no negative aspects to the internship. The only challenge was the sheer scale of the campus, navigating such a large corporate space was initially overwhelming, but clear signboards and helpful staff made it manageable. Overall, it was a perfect environment for learning.

It was an unpaid internship.

Details about the accommodation, commuting to the office

I chose to commute via Uber from my residence. The company’s location inside Technopark, Trivandrum, is prime and easily accessible, with excellent connectivity to the city.
