How did you apply?

The application process for the internship at Naksh Foundation began with the submission of an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with an expression of interest in joining the programme.

Applications were reviewed by the Foundation, and shortlisted candidates were invited to participate in a personal interview.

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression

The internship commenced with a comprehensive orientation programme designed to introduce interns to Naksh Foundation, its mission, objectives, and the nature of its work. During this session, the mentors explained the internship framework, daily schedule, expected responsibilities, and the various assignments and activities that would be undertaken throughout the programme.

From the very first day, the work environment was friendly, well-organised, and highly encouraging. The Foundation emphasized both academic learning and practical exposure by engaging interns in legal research, and blog writing, presentations, and cyber awareness initiatives.

Throughout the internship, the mentors remained approachable and supportive, offering regular guidance and valuable feedback that helped interns strengthen their legal understanding and professional skills.

What stood out most was the Foundation’s balanced approach to learning, where theoretical concepts were effectively integrated with real-world activities related to cyber law and community outreach.

My overall first impression was that of a professionally managed organisation that genuinely prioritises learning, skill development, and meaningful social impact.

Main Tasks

Throughout the internship, I was actively involved in a variety of research-based, drafting, and field activities that provided both academic and practical exposure to the legal profession.

One of my primary responsibilities was conducting legal research on different legislations, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the POSH Act, the Right to Information Act, the Legal Services Authorities Act, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021.

These research assignments strengthened my understanding of the practical application of legal provisions and improved my analytical and legal writing skills. A major component of the internship involved legal content creation.

Along with my co-intern, I worked extensively on blogs related to the concept of bail under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Preparing these blogs required detailed legal research, studying landmark judicial decisions, and presenting complex legal concepts in a simple and reader-friendly manner.

The internship also involved preparing daily reports, maintaining internship documentation, and delivering presentations on assigned legal topics. Apart from research and drafting work, I had the opportunity to participate in several cyber awareness campaigns organised by Naksh Foundation.

We visited villages, schools, and slum communities to spread awareness about cyber safety, online financial frauds, digital arrest scams, OTP and phishing scams, social media safety, and safe online practices.

During these sessions, we also educated people about the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, encouraging them to report cyber offences promptly. Interacting directly with people from diverse backgrounds helped me understand the importance of legal awareness at the grassroots level and strengthened my communication and public interaction skills.

Another valuable learning experience was our visit to Shahdara Cyber Police Station, where we interacted with the Station House Officer and other police officials. The visit provided practical insights into the functioning of cybercrime investigations, the nature of emerging cyber offences, digital evidence collection, cyber safety applications, and the process of registering and investigating cybercrime complaints. This exposure helped bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and its practical implementation.

Overall, the internship offered an excellent balance of legal research, drafting, public awareness initiatives, field exposure, and professional skill development. It significantly improved my legal research abilities, drafting skills, presentation techniques, teamwork, confidence, and practical understanding of cyber law and criminal law.

Work Environment

The work environment at Naksh Foundation was highly professional, welcoming, and focused on continuous learning. From the beginning of the internship, the mentors created an atmosphere where interns were encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and actively participate in every assignment.

They provided regular guidance, constructive feedback, and practical suggestions, which helped me improve the quality of my research, drafting, presentations, and overall professional approach. The internship promoted collaborative learning by assigning several tasks that required teamwork and coordination.

Working closely with my co-interns on research projects, blog writing, presentations, and field activities taught me the importance of effective communication, mutual support, and time management. Interacting with interns from different academic backgrounds also exposed me to diverse perspectives and learning approaches.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the work environment was the balance between office-based legal work and field exposure. While research assignments and documentation strengthened my legal knowledge, cyber awareness sessions and the visit to the Cyber Police Station provided practical exposure that deepened my understanding of how law functions in real-life situations.

The internship encouraged independent thinking, responsibility, and professionalism while maintaining a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Overall, the positive work culture, approachable mentors, and opportunities for both academic learning and community engagement made the internship an enriching experience that contributed significantly to my legal knowledge, professional skills, and personal growth.

Good Things about the Internship

One of the best aspects of the internship was the diversity of learning opportunities it offered. Every assignment, whether related to legal research, drafting, presentations, or community outreach, contributed to my overall development and kept the experience engaging.

The internship encouraged critical thinking, independent learning, and the practical application of legal concepts rather than limiting us to theoretical work. The mentors were supportive and approachable, creating an environment where learning was always encouraged. Their constructive feedback helped me refine my research, and presentation skills.

Another positive aspect was the collaborative work culture. Working closely with my co-interns and interacting with fellow interns made the experience enjoyable and helped me develop teamwork, communication, and time-management skills. Overall, the internship was both professionally rewarding and personally enriching, providing valuable exposure that will benefit me in my future legal career.

Bad Things about the Internship

Overall, my internship experience was highly positive, and I did not face any significant challenges or shortcomings. The programme was well-planned, and the mentors ensured that interns received proper guidance throughout the internship.

However, I believe the experience could have been further enriched by including more interactive sessions with practicing advocates, judges, or cyber law experts.

Additionally, a few more field visits to legal institutions, courts, or cybercrime investigation units would have provided greater practical exposure and a deeper understanding of the legal system in action.

Accommodation and daily commuting arrangements were managed independently by the interns. I travelled to the office and field locations as per the internship schedule. Although commuting required careful planning, it also helped me become more disciplined, punctual, and adaptable to a professional work routine.

The internship at Naksh Foundation was a transformative learning experience that gave me practical exposure beyond classroom education. It allowed me to understand how legal knowledge can be applied to address real-life issues, particularly in the fields of cyber law and legal awareness.

Working on legal research, blog writing, reports, and presentations strengthened my analytical thinking, drafting, and research abilities. One of the most memorable aspects of the internship was interacting directly with people that taught me how to communicate legal and cyber safety concepts in a simple, practical, and relatable manner.

The internship also helped me grow personally by improving my confidence, public speaking, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills. Most importantly, it reinforced my interest in cyber law and inspired me to use my legal knowledge for spreading awareness and contributing to society.

Overall, it was a highly enriching and memorable experience that has positively influenced my academic and professional journey.
