Duration of Internship

How did you apply?
First day formalities were that they conducted an orientation, in which they introduced tasks for us, and the first impression was pretty good.
First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
During my one-month virtual internship at Legal Specs, I was primarily assigned to work on legal drafting and research. I drafted various legal documents, including notices, basic agreements, and petitions.
In addition, I was often assigned small research tasks on topics related to family law, which helped strengthen my understanding of how legal principles are applied practically.
The tasks were shared through Google Classroom, and we were required to meet deadlines strictly. We were also given samples and formats for reference, which were helpful in developing drafting skills.
Main Tasks
Since the internship was virtual, all communication took place via emails and Google Classroom. Instructions were clearly provided through announcements, and tasks were regularly uploaded. However, the internship was largely self-paced, with very minimal direct mentorship or interactive sessions.
The batch size was quite large, so it was difficult to receive personalised feedback or guidance. There was no formal orientation or live meetings with mentors, which made the experience feel slightly isolated.
Still, the structure was straightforward to follow for those who are comfortable with independent work.
Work Environment
One good aspect of this internship was the amount of practical drafting exposure it provided. For students who want to get hands-on experience with legal document writing, the assignments given were useful.
The format-based approach helped build a basic understanding of how legal documents are structured. Since it was virtual, it also offered flexibility in managing time and completing tasks at one’s own pace.
The deadlines were reasonable, and the tasks covered different types of legal documents, giving an idea of real-world legal work, especially in family law.

Bad Things about the Internship
One major drawback was that they charged money for providing the internship certificate, which felt unprofessional and exploitative. Moreover, the batch size was very large, which made the entire experience less engaging.
Due to the lack of direct interaction or personalised guidance, it felt more like a passive course rather than an internship. There were no live sessions or mentor discussions, and feedback on tasks was minimal to none.
Monthly Stipend
No stipend provided.
Details about the accommodation and commuting to the Office
NA (online internship)
Since the internship at Legal Specs was entirely online, there were no requirements related to accommodation or commuting. All communication and task submissions were done virtually through platforms like Google Classroom and email.
This made it highly convenient and accessible for students from different parts of the country. The flexibility of working from home eliminated the need for travel or relocation, making it easier to balance the internship with other academic or personal commitments.
Anything else you’d like to share?
This internship taught me the value of self-discipline and independent learning. Since there was limited supervision, I learned to manage my time better and stick to deadlines on my own.
Though I missed the interactive and collaborative aspects of an offline internship, I used the extra time to explore additional legal topics on my own and refine my drafting skills.
In my free time, I would unwind by reading or watching legal dramas, which strangely kept me inspired. Overall, it was a useful experience for gaining a beginner-level understanding of legal drafting, even if it had its limitations.
