How did you apply?
I applied for the internship at the Delhi State Legal Services Authority through an online application process. I submitted my CV and the required details, and after a few days, I received confirmation regarding my selection. The application process was simple and smooth, and it gave me practical exposure to the field of legal aid.
First-day formalities
On the first day, I completed basic formalities such as attendance and introduction. The staff members were welcoming and guided me about my responsibilities, and the office infrastructure was well-maintained and organized.
My first impression was positive, as the environment was professional yet supportive, which made me feel comfortable and eager to learn.
Main Tasks
During my internship, I was involved in various tasks related to legal aid services. I assisted in drafting basic applications and documents, and I also observed court proceedings, which helped me understand how legal processes work in practice.
Additionally, I interacted with clients and learned how legal advice is provided to those in need, and I worked on legal research, gaining knowledge about different laws and procedures. This experience helped me bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Work Environment
The work environment was friendly, disciplined, and supportive. The seniors and staff members were always ready to guide and help. I felt comfortable asking questions and learning new things, and the environment encouraged growth and provided a good learning atmosphere for interns.
Good Things about the Internship
The internship provided valuable practical exposure to the legal field. I gained insights into how legal aid is delivered to people who cannot afford legal services, and it improved my drafting, research, and communication skills.
Observing real court proceedings enhanced my understanding of legal procedures, and the guidance from experienced professionals made this internship a meaningful and enriching experience.
Bad Things about the Internship
While the internship was overall a good learning experience, there were a few limitations. At times, the workload was not consistent, and some days involved less practical work; there were limited opportunities for direct involvement in complex cases, as most tasks were observational in nature.
Additionally, due to the busy schedule of officials, personal guidance was sometimes limited. The infrastructure, although functional, could be improved for better comfort and efficiency. However, these challenges did not significantly affect my overall learning experience, and I was still able to gain valuable practical knowledge.
