The Centre for Law and Language, established under the School of Law and Humanities, explores the intersection of legal scholarship and language. The Centre promotes interdisciplinary research and dialogue on the role of language in law, legal interpretation, and justice.

About the Conference

The conference seeks to examine the intersections of law and literature through the lens of text, context, and interpretation. It aims to facilitate discussions on justice, power, identity, representation, and the evolving relationship between legal and literary texts in contemporary society.

• Human rights and constitutional values
• Language vis-à-vis politics
• Gendered readings of texts and contexts
• Queer perspectives and representation
• Intersection of caste, class, and identity

II. Literature, Culture, and Representation

• Literature as a reflection of human conditions
• Identity, marginality, and resistance
• Memory, trauma, and storytelling
• Hermeneutics and critical theory
• Environment and climate change in literature
• War, narratives, and memorials

The above themes are only illustrative. Papers on other relevant topics aligned with the conference theme are also welcome.

Submission Guidelines

Abstract

• Abstract should be 250–300 words.
• Include five keywords.
• A 100-word bio note should accompany the abstract, mentioning:
  • Author’s name
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Email ID
  • Contact number
  • Designation
  • Official address
• Abstracts must be submitted in MS Word format.
• Language: English or Hindi

Research Paper

• Word Limit: 4,000–6,000 words
• Papers should present original research with clear methodology, analysis, and conclusion.
• Citation Style: APA, MLA (9th Edition), or Bluebook (12th Edition).

Publication Opportunity

• Selected papers may be published in an edited book with an ISBN by HNLU Press.
• Papers will undergo a blind peer-review process.
• The similarity index must not exceed 10%.
• Use of AI-generated content is permitted only up to 20% of the total work.
• Selection for presentation does not guarantee publication.
