Under the agreement, India Post will handle deliveries for Flipkart shipments across urban, semi-urban and rural areas, including remote regions, by leveraging its network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices.
The partnership will include delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels, OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking, according to the government statement.
The two organisations said the collaboration aims to improve delivery efficiency and strengthen logistics infrastructure supporting the country’s growing e-commerce sector.
The agreement was signed in New Delhi by officials of the Department of Posts and Flipkart in the presence of senior representatives from both sides.
The Department of Posts said the partnership is expected to improve utilisation of its delivery and logistics network, while enabling wider service reach for Flipkart, particularly in rural and underserved markets.
