The branch, located at Capital Green, DLF Midtown Plaza, was inaugurated by M Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, along with Ashok Tyagi of DLF, in the presence of the bank’s CEO Amitabh Chaudhry and senior leadership.
The move comes against a backdrop of a widening gap in locker availability.
Industry estimates indicate that by 2030, nearly 6 crore affluent Indians could require locker facilities, while current supply stands at roughly 60 lakh, with shortages most acute in large cities.
Axis Bank’s new branch aims to address not just availability but also longstanding customer pain points around access, privacy and dependency on branch timings. The locker system is fully automated, enabling biometric, keyless entry and 24×7 access without the need for staff assistance—removing the constraints of fixed banking hours.
A key feature is the automated locker retrieval system that delivers lockers into private access lounges, allowing customers to operate them discreetly without entering shared vault spaces. The bank has also integrated centrally monitored vaults with multi-layered surveillance and sensor-based protection to enhance security.
The format reflects a broader shift in branch banking, where lenders are redesigning physical touchpoints to align with evolving urban lifestyles—especially within premium residential complexes where convenience and security are key considerations.
With this launch, Axis Bank is looking to scale a technology-led locker model that blends physical infrastructure with digital access, targeting customers who want greater control, flexibility and privacy in managing their valuables.
