About the Organizer
The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) is a premier law school established by the Government of Assam. The University promotes modern legal education and research for students from diverse backgrounds across the country. The Literary and Debate Committee, an elected body of the Student Bar Council, actively fosters a culture of dialogue and intellectual exploration through various university engagements.
About the Debate
The Brahmaputra Open 2026 is a national-level debate competition and a first-of-its-kind initiative in Northeast India. Named after the Brahmaputra river, a symbol of continuity and the confluence of diverse currents, the event serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue and mutual understanding.
The tournament features two separate categories:
- Open Category (University Level): May 16-17, 2026.
- Pre-University Category (School Level): May 15, 2026.
Format and Themes
The competition will follow a 3 v. 3 Asian Parliamentary Debating structure. Participants will engage with a wide range of contemporary and interdisciplinary motions, including:
- Politics and Public Policy
- Pop Culture, Music, and Entertainment
- Sports and Socio-Political Trends
Eligibility and Mode
- Mode: The tournament will be conducted in an online format to ensure inclusivity and accessibility across geographical boundaries.
- Eligibility: Open to participants from across the country at different stages of their academic journey.
