    2. The contents of the FIR speaks of a dispute between two
villages that is, Lama village and Lakadong Ummat village indicating
therein that two groups of villagers of these respective villages are involved
    in such dispute.

    3. The dispute involves land situated in such area, which land is
the subject matter of acquisition by the concerned authorities for
construction of a Four Lane expressway.

    4. Without going into details, what is understood is that an
inspection of the said land is said to be conducted by the authorities
concerned on the said date of inspection, that is, on 03.03.2026 at around
10:30 AM or so, where a crowd of people has gathered there. It is said that

because of some misunderstanding, disagreement or conflict between the
two groups, an altercation has taken place with some gunshot being fired
resulting in injuries to some of those who were present at the place of
    occurrence.

    5. Under such circumstances, an FIR was registered as
Khliehriat, P.S. Case No. 104 of 2026 Under Section
109/118(2)/191(3)/61(2)/132/35 BNS r/w Section 27 Arms Act, an
    investigation was launched.

    6. Heard Mr. J. Shylla, learned counsel for the petitioner, who
has submitted that the petitioner belongs to one of the families who are the
owners of some of the portion of the said land in dispute. However, he is not
aware of the said inspection nor as he was present at the place of occurrence.
In spite of this, he was surprised to find that he was named in the said FIR
as one of the perpetrators responsible for the incident.

    7. It is however, the submission of the learned counsel that
basically, the dispute is with regard to the said landed property and the
incident have apparently taken place because of rival contention between
    the two groups.

    8. However, since the petitioner is not involved in the said
incident, he has accordingly approached the Sessions Court for grant of
anticipatory bail, which was rejected vide order dated 12. 03. 2026.

    9. It is in such a situation that the petitioner has now approach
this Court with this prayer for grant of anticipatory bail, since he is
apprehending arrest on the basis that he is one of the name perpetrators as
    aforesaid.

    10. Mrs. N.G. Shylla, learned Sr. GA has submitted that at this
point of time the prosecution or rather the investigating officer may be

allowed to file the status report to confirm the involvement of the petitioner
    herein.

    11. On consideration of the submission made, at the outset, this
Court is inclined to allow the prayer made by the learned Senior GA and
accordingly, the IO is directed to file the status report along with the CD on
    the next date fixed.

    12. In the meantime, as prayed for, interim bail is granted to the
petitioner on condition that he shall not abscond and would cooperate with
the investigation as and when required.

    13. List this matter on 20th April, 2026.
