Until a few years ago, my knowledge, like most people, about forensic and criminal psychology was based on films and TV series. I was mesmerized by how detectives and police solved gruesome crimes using forensic and criminal psychology. However, my romance with detective and crime TV series was over once I got to know about these two very different fields of study.
The two fields are related in the sense that they serve as important limbs for law enforcement, but the approach is very different. Both involve one-on-one interviews, extensive research, and data collection.

Forensic Psychology
Forensic Psychologists put their knowledge to the test during legal situations. Forensic experts assess people involved in crime from a psychological perspective.

Criminal Psychology Vs. Forensic Psychology
Criminal and forensic psychologists work for law enforcement and try to understand criminal behaviors and tendencies. However, there are some differences.
Criminal psychologists focus on criminal behavior such as conducting and evaluating reports. Forensic experts often involve themselves with criminal and Civil law.
