First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
On the first day I was asked to report to the office by 9:30 AM. The interns usually sit in the library which is on the second floor along with the cafeteria and a few partners’ offices.
The associates and most of the partners sit on the 1st and the 3rd floors. After some time, I met with the HR, she gave the briefing and explained everything thoroughly and asked me to give some basic details in writing for the records and this I had to choose the team I wanted to intern with.
There where no major formalities apart from this. Once the team was finalized, she introduced me to the associates, and from then on, we had to approach them directly whenever we were looking for work or assignments.
Main Tasks
Most of my work during the internship involved legal research. I worked on a lot of different topics, including arbitration law, the Electricity Act, GNA Regulations, and labour laws across different States.
I also researched issues relating to multi-state contracts, the relationship between holding and subsidiary companies, the doctrine of separate legal personality, and the validity of unilateral appointment of arbitrators.
Apart from legal research, I conducted a financial analysis of a foreign company for one of the matters assigned to me. I also prepared a few PowerPoint presentations, including one that was used by an associate for a client presentation.
The key is to not just stay stuck on your team, you are not bound you can ask for work from associates from different teams as well and they do give you the work irrespective of what tema you chose.
Work Environment
The work environment was honestly really nice. All the associates were friendly and approachable. Whenever I got stuck or was confused about something, they would actually take the time to explain it instead of just expecting me to know it.
I remember one time I was given a research assignment based on provisions that I hadn’t studied before. Instead of just asking me to figure it out, the associate patiently explained the provisions and also told me how to go about the research.
I really liked that because it felt like they genuinely wanted interns to learn and not just get the work done. The HR was also very friendly and helpful throughout. Overall, I had a really good experience working there.
Good Things about the Internship
One of the best things about the internship was that I got to work on a wide range of legal issues instead of being restricted to just one area.
The associates were approachable and were always willing to explain things whenever I had doubts, which made the learning experience much better. I also liked that interns were trusted with meaningful research work and presentations.
The office environment was friendly, and interacting with associates was easy and comfortable. On a lighter note, the unlimited coffee was definitely a nice perk during long working hours!
Bad Things about the Internship
There weren’t any major bad things about the internship. The only challenge was that work was not distributed in a very structured manner, so interns had to approach associates themselves to ask for assignments.
At times, the workload also depended on the availability of work within the team, which meant there could be periods when there wasn’t much to do.
Other than that, my overall experience was positive, and I found the internship to be a good learning opportunity.

Details about the accommodation, commuting to the office
I live in Delhi only so I commuted by metro, the nearest metro station is Okhla NSIC on Magenta Line (that’s what I took) and Govindpuri is on Violet line.
Both of the stations are somewhat equidistant to the office, its just 10-12 minute walk.
Anything else you want to share?
I genuinely enjoyed my time there. Apart from the work, it was nice getting to know the other interns and talking to them over coffee or during lunch breaks.
The internship also made me realize that legal research is very different in practice than it is in law school. You have to think beyond just finding the law and focus on what is actually relevant to the issue.
I also became much more comfortable asking questions whenever I got stuck, and I think that’s something I’ll carry forward in future internships as well.
