The RGNUL Student Research Review (RSRR), in its desire to platform intelligent and innovative formations of academic scholarship, commits to a policy of transparency and informed objectivity in dealing with its submissions.
About Blog Submissions​
​The Rolling Blog provides a platform for discussing timely legal issues. Submissions should be around 1,500 to 2,000 words. In certain circumstances where the topic requires a more comprehensive analysis, longer submissions may be considered. Please avoid footnotes unless absolutely necessary; use hyperlinks to cite sources instead. In the event your submission requires changes, we reserve the right to request a revised version before publication. Owing to our academic schedule, submissions for the Rolling Blog are closed during June-July and December-January.
Open Access Policy Statement
​We are committed to developing a robust academic culture with critical and open scholarship. In pursuance of that objective, all Journals and Rolling Blogs of the RGNUL Student Research Review shall be freely accessible and available for the broader public. We encourage other institutions and publications to adopt similar policies for the further development of the law and social sciences across the world.
Editorial Policy
In pursuance of the same the RSRR hereby adopts the following policy on the editorial side.
The Editorial Review Process
Submissions to the RSRR undergoes a four phased process. The process is outlined for reasons of transparency and ease of understanding.
(I) Manuscripts are received and screened for compliance with the General Submission Guidelines and the Technical Submission Guidelines. Any non-compliance with the aforementioned may be a ground to deem the submission non-responsive.
- Manuscripts, if compliant, are sent for review. The review process includes two stages itself.
Stage I involves the study of whether the manuscript is compliant with the designed theme (if any) and is barred for reasons of plagiarism. A manuscript may be rejected at this stage and the author is communicated to regarding its rejection. - The review process’ Stage 2 includes an indepth examination of the manuscript in line with the RSRR’s predetermined criteria. This criteria includes, inter alia, the contribution to the existing literature and the legal and factual accuracies of the manuscript. The manuscript may be accepted, rejected, or accepted subject to changes by the author.
- Submissions that are subject to peer review apropos the Guidelines concerned, are sent therefor.
The peer concerned may examine the manuscript to either accept, reject, or accept it subject to changes by the author.
The RSRR’s double blind policy means that at no point throughout this process is the identity of the author or the editor/reviewer concerned ever revealed to each other. The RSRR does not charge any fee for the publication of manuscript.
In exceptional circumstances, the RSRR may, by means of its discretion, waive off any of the four phases of two stages of the review process with regard to a submission made to it.
Indemnity for Liability: The author(s) undertake to indemnify the RSRR from any action or suit arising out of the publication of a submission proffered by the author(s) in favour of the RSRR. Whereas the RSRR conducts a comprehensive study of all submissions placed before it and published by it, the final liability shall rest with the authors) concerned.
Copyright Policy
The RGNUL Student Research Review (RSRR) as an academic publication accepts submissions for publication under its seal and title, for the purposes of creating a critically comprehensive academic culture. In pursuance of the same, the RSRR hereby adopts the following policy concerning copyright.
Transfer of Copyright
The RSRR shall retain all copyrights arising out of any publications made by it. It shall further retain the rights to publish, reproduce, distribute, translate and edit the work submitted to it. It shall retain the rights to make the submission available in all forms and media.
Rights & Duties of the Author(s)
The author(s) shall be provided proper attribution and credit for the published work by the RSRR. The moral rights shall further vest with the author.
The author(s) shall declare that the submission(s) is their original work. The submission(s) must neither have been previously published nor be under consideration for publication on any other platform.
The author(s) shall not reuse the submission(s), in whole or in part, in their future work. However, the author(s) shall have the non-exclusive right to create derivative works from the submission(s).
The author(s) shall secure all necessary copyright permissions for the use of third-party materials in the submissions) made by them. Further, the author(s) shall ensure that the submission(s) contains no matter that is defamatory or infringes any literary or proprietary rights, intellectual property rights, or any other rights of such nature.
Fair Use & Permission
Whereas all submissions to the RSRR are its exclusive copyright, they may be freely reproduced either in part or whole after obtaining due consent. All permissible uses under the fair use doctrine may be undertaken without such consent. In such cases the requisite attribution must be made, and the use must be for non-commercial purposes only. This requirement may be waived off by the RSRR if it deems fit.
Submissions may not be altered, distorted, built upon, or transformed in any manner without the explicit consent of the RSRR. The consent may be obtained by sending in a mail addressed to the editorial board at rsir@rgnul.ac.in. The work licensed to you may not be further licensed to a third party, without obtaining the RSRR’s consent. In case of a breach of these conditions, the license to reproduce the submissions will be terminated by the RSRR, and any subsequent usage of the said material will not be permissible.
Copyright Contravention Notice: Should you become cognizant of any utilization of the RSRR’s copyrighted materials that is in violation of or may potentially contravene the aforementioned provisions, you are requested to report the same to rslr@rgnul.ac.in.
Plagiarism Policy
The RGNUL Student Research Review (RSRR), in its endeavours to develop a culture of academic excellence and critically comprehensive scholarship, believes in upholding and promoting the principles of high research integrity and academic honesty. For these reasons, the RSRR hereby prohibits the exercise of plagiarism in the submissions made to it and commits to not publish plagiarised materials to the highest degree practicable.
Plagiarism & Similarity
The University Grants Commission (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018 (‘UGC Regulations’) §8 classifies the act of plagiarism in ascending order of similarity.
Whereas plagiarism refers to the passing of someone else’s work as one’s own, similarity indicates the extent of overlap of the submitter’s work bears with the existing corpus of literature concerned, including but not limited to books, research articles, web logs, student theses, dissertations, and other such materials.
Similarity may or may not amount to plagiarism. Therefore, editorial judgment shall be exercised by the RSRR to identify and determine the existence of plagiarism where similarity is found.
Originality & Attribution
In accordance with the UGC Regulations §7, the RSRR shall exclude quoted contents with the requisite permission(s) or attributions), references, prefatory materials, bibliographies, as well as generic terminology, words, phrases, laws, symbols, and equations, in its calculation of plagiarism in a given submission.
Submissions must made to the RSRR must be their original work. They must also contribute to the existing corpus of literature to minimise similarity, and consequently, plagiarism. The authors) are liable and bear sole responsibility for the accuracy of facts, opinions, and views contained within the submission(s). Submissions bearing plagiarism shall be rejected by the RSRR.
Self-Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism refers to when an author uses parts) of their previously published materials without making appropriate and requisite reference to the same and passes it off as it were new. Acts of self-plagiarism give rise to copyright infringement violations due to conflicts between the original copyright holder and the new copyright created with the publisher. For these reasons, the RSRR hereby prohibits the exercise of self-plagiarism in the submissions made to it and commits to not publish plagiarised materials to the highest degree practicable.
