About the Organisation

The ICFAI University, Tripura (referred to hereafter as the University) was established in 2004 through an Act of State Legislature (Tripura Act 8 of 2004). The University believes in creating and disseminating knowledge and skills in core and frontier areas through innovative educational programs, research, consulting and publishing, and developing a new cadre of citizens with a high level of competence and deep sense of ethics and commitment to the code of professional conduct.

About the Opportunity

The ICFAI University Tripura is pleased to announce the 4th N.J.Y National Moot Court Competition, 2026, aimed at providing a national platform for law students to enhance their advocacy, research, and analytical skills through simulated court proceedings.

Organized by the Moot Court Committee of ICFAI University Tripura, the competition seeks to promote practical legal education, fostering a spirit of professional excellence while building a future of good faith and strong bonds within the legal community. The event is supported by ‘Manupatra’ as the Knowledge Partner, enriching the academic and research experience of the participants.

Theme

The Moot Proposition and Issues for Consideration are given in the Brochure. The Brochure is given at the end of the post. The moot proposition for finals shall be shared only with the teams upon successful registration.

Eligibility

Students enrolled in 5-year integrated law courses (B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B.) or the 3- year LL.B. programme from any recognized law college or university approved by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the competition.

How to Register?

  • Online registration shall commence from 26 February 2026, and teams must complete their final registration on or before 26 May 2026.
  • Registration shall be completed by filling out the prescribed form available on the official website.
  • Registration shall be deemed complete only upon successful submission of the registration form along with full payment of the prescribed registration fee.
  • Upon successful registration, participants shall receive an official confirmation email from the Organising Committee containing their Team Code by 27 May 2026 or earlier. The Team Code must be quoted in all future correspondence with the Organising Committee.
  • The registration fee for the competition is ₹5,999/- per team (inclusive of accommodation and meals). The registration fee, once paid, shall be non-refundable.

Fee

A registration fee of ₹5,999/- per team is applicable for participation in the competition. The fee has been structured to facilitate the smooth organization of the event and to provide participants with a comprehensive and enriching mooting experience.

The registration fee is inclusive of accommodation and meals for the participating team during the course of the competition.

  • 26 February 2026 – Commencement of Registration
  • 26 May 2026 – Last Date for Registration
  • 27 May 2026 – Last Date for Seeking Clarifications (if any)
  • 12 June 2026 – Submission of Memorials (Soft Copy via E-mail)
  • 16 June 2026 – Arrival of Participants on Campus
  • 17 June 2026 – Inaugural Ceremony, Draw of Lots, Preliminary Rounds & Exchange of Hard Copies
  • 18 June 2026 – Quarter-Final & Semi-Final Rounds
  • 19 June 2026 – Final Round & Valedictory Ceremony

Awards

  • Winning Team: ₹50,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate, and one freeManupatra Academy course of choice
  • Runners-Up Team: ₹30,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate, and a 75% discount on any one Manupatra Academy course
  • Third Placed Team: A 50% discount on any one Manupatra Academy course
  • Best Speaker (Petitioner): ₹5,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate
  • Best Speaker (Respondent): ₹5,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate
  • Best Memorial (Team): ₹5,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate
  • Best Researcher: ₹5,000/- along with a Trophy & Certificate.
  • Additional Benefits
    • All participants shall receive a 15% discount on any one Manupatra Academy course
    • All participants shall receive a 10% scholarship code on courses offered by Lawctopus Law School
