About the University

National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi (NUSRL) was established by Act No. 4 of Jharkhand State Assembly in 2010. The University has subsequently been recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) in September 2011 u/s 22, u/s 12B in the year 2018 of the UGC Act of 1956 and Bar Council of India (BCI).

The University started functioning in September 2010. At present, the University has more than 600 students on the rolls in the undergraduate course. The University has been included as member of the CLAT w.e.f. CLAT 2012. At the undergraduate level, University offers Five-year Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree Program which consists of ten semesters.

About the Competition

The Centre for Policies, Laws and Agenda at NUSRL Ranchi is proud to announce the third edition of the Legislative Drafting and Presentation Competition. This competition presents a unique opportunity for participants to delve into the intricacies of legislative drafting, refining their skills in the process.

It aims to guide participants through the entire drafting process, from identifying issues to achieving a balanced approach between idealistic and pragmatic considerations. Engaging in legislative drafting enhances students’ ability to recognize existing legal issues and gaps, enabling them to propose effective solutions. It also broadens their knowledge, analytical capabilities, and interpretation of the law. The competition extends an open invitation to students from all law schools, encouraging them to participate and contribute to the exchange of ideas and experiences on the designated topic.

Eligibility and Team Composition

  1. The Competition shall be open to all students pursuing any degree from a recognised college or university.
  2. There shall be no restriction on the number of Participants from a single institution.
  3. Participation may be either: (a) individual; or (b) in teams not exceeding two members.

Timeline

  • Opening of registrations: April 13, 2026
  • Last date for seeking clarifications: April 31, 2026
  • Closing of Registration: April 25, 2026
  • Deadline of Submission: May 13, 2026
  • Declaration of Phase 1 Results: May 20, 2026
  • Dates for Phase II presentations: May 30, 2026

Awards & Prizes

  • Winner: Trophy, ₹10,000 and Certificate of Merit
  • 1st Runner-Up: Trophy, ₹7500 and Certificate of Merit
  • 2nd Runner-Up: Trophy, ₹6,000 and Certificate of Merit
  • Certificate of Participation to all participants
  • All participants selected for Phase II shall be awarded a certificate of Merit.
  • The best five submissions shall be published on CPLAN NUSRL’s Website.

Registration Fee

  1. Single Author: INR 350 | Co-Authors: INR 700. (Maximum upto 2 authors are allowed).
  2. Those participants who will qualify for Phase I will have to pay an additional accommodation amount of Rs. 1500 per person.
