About MKD Centre of Excellence:
The Senior Advocate M.K. Damodaran International Centre of Excellence in Law is a flagship initiative of NUALS. It was created to strengthen advanced legal education and professional training in India. The Centre focuses on:

About the Workshop:
The fashion industry is one of the largest global economic sectors, contributing significantly to India’s economy and employing millions. Yet, the legal aspects of fashion law remain underexplored in Indian academia and practice.
This workshop aims to bridge that gap by offering structured exposure to the legal and regulatory framework of the fashion industry, covering:
- Intellectual property rights
- Competition law
- Sustainability and compliance
- Cross-border trade and supply chains
- AI and e-commerce regulations
Sessions will include expert lectures, case-based discussions, interactive activities, and a final assessment. Certificates will be awarded based on performance in the concluding test.
Workshop Modules:
- IPR and Fashion Law – Copyright, trademarks, patents, counterfeiting, landmark cases
- Competition Law in Fashion – Anti-competitive practices, dominance, mergers, resale price maintenance
- Ethics, Compliance & Sustainability – ESG, supply chain due diligence, anti-corruption, human rights
- Cross-Border Dimensions – WTO rules, customs, IP licensing, FTAs, global supply chain challenges
- AI & E-Commerce Regulations – AI-generated designs, data privacy, platform liability, algorithmic bias
