Ahmedabad: A team from the Abhayam 181 women helpline rescued a woman and her eight-year-old son after reports of domestic violence. “The woman said that she had a love marriage nine years ago. The man started drinking after some time and used to beat her up. As it was a love marriage, she had nowhere to go. She tried twice to live alone, but both times the man allegedly followed her and threatened her with dire consequences. She was thus forced to live with him,” said a counsellor.
As the man snatched the woman’s money kept for a loan repayment, the woman called the helpline on Saturday. Helpline officials said that the woman also lodged an FIR in the case.
