Allu Arjun and Sukumar have unleashed wildfire at the box office, with reports coming in that the film could very possibly become the biggest opener of Indian Cinema. Post the success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali series, time and again films from down south like RRR, KGF, Kalki 2898 AD etc have been able to cross to Hindi heartland and earn huge sums of money which often Hindi films are unable to do.
If one goes through the list of top 10 movies of Indian cinema, the first four spots have been taken by films from south of India like Baahubali 2-The Conclusion, KGF 2, RRR and Kalki 2898 AD with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan on the 5th spot.
Coming to Pushpa 2, the film from its morning shows has already earned Rs 41.54 crore as per Sacnilk, and with more than 3/4th of the day yet to go, the film has already challenged the big boys of the game. Allu Arjun starrer is in competition with films like KGF 2, Baahubali 2- The Conclusion and RRR to become the biggest opener of Indian cinema.
Yash’s KGF 2 had minted Rs 116 crore, while SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 had minted Rs 121 crore and his RRR takes the top spot with Rs 133 crore opening. Pushpa 2 has already crossed Rs 105 crore mark from its advance booking, and going by the strong word of mouth and fan craze, one can easily expect another 20 to 30 % jump in its collection, taking it well past the Rs 133 crore mark. It would be interesting to see where day 1 for the film ends and what challenge it throws for the future films.
