“Today’s investors are curious and self-driven. They want to know who is behind the advice, why they’re saying it, and whether it’s based on real research,” Sriniwasan said. “This demand for honesty and transparency is shaping smarter investment decisions.”
He explained why regulatory measures are becoming important.
SEBI’s push for visibility and accountability in financial content, he said, ensures that investors can make more thoughtful choices. “When content is responsible, investors become responsible too,” he added.
Kotak has also launched the Katalyst Awards to encourage creators who focus on financial education rather than chasing views, reinforcing the shift toward authenticity in the digital finance ecosystem.
On how recent RBI and SEBI rules affect investors, Sriniwasan said these measures — like mandatory refunds for mis-sold products and restrictions on unregistered financial advice — are designed to protect first-time investors.

“For content creators, these rules act as a healthy reset. Those who communicate responsibly now have more reason to continue doing so,” he said.
He also highlighted how investors can distinguish credible content from hype online. “Look for creators who explain risks, share sources, and are transparent about whether they are educating or recommending. Credible voices tend to sound measured, not dramatic,” Sriniwasan explained.
He said, initiatives such as SEBI’s Investor Awareness Programme are helping investors navigate India’s fast-growing digital finance ecosystem safely.
