Since his debut in 1986, Govinda has appeared in more than 130 movies. With his acting prowess, charming screen presence, versatility, beautiful dancing skills, and unmatched comic timing, Govinda became a household name. In the ’90s, he gained a lot of love and appreciation, he was a force to be reckoned with. Despite his stardom and success, the actor faced his fair share of hardships. There was a time he didn’t receive any work and opening up about the same in an old interaction with ETimes he mentioned the root cause of the same.

“I have been a victim of nepotism and it was around the time I stopped getting work,” shared Govinda. In the conversation, he further shared how he saw many bigwigs in the industry suffering because of nepotism. “I saw Amitabh Bachchan struggle too; he would come on stage and people from the industry would walk away,” Govinda mentioned.
Govinda shared that as he supported Big B at the time, he perhaps was punished by the industry. He felt as if Amitabh was set free and people caught him instead.
In this interaction that happened in 2021, Govinda talked about people plotting against him, the actor losing a great deal of money and things taking a bad turn at every point. “In the last 14-15 years, I have invested money and lost around Rs 16 crore. I was treated badly by some people from the fraternity too. My films didn’t get theatres and they wanted to demolish my career, which didn’t happen,” he shared.
Despite the dark days that he witnessed, the actor didn’t give up on hope. He said he believed in focusing on the positive instead. In addition to his work in Indian cinema, Govinda over the years has paved his way into politics as well. As a veteran of the industry, he understands the struggles and thus, intends to provide better opportunities for the upcoming generation.
