Vrajesh Hirjee recently shared an intriguing anecdote about his time on the sets of the 2001 cult classic ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein‘ (RHTDM). Known for his comedic roles, Hirjee opened up about a heated moment with Saif Ali Khan during the shoot of a fight sequence that left the crew stunned.
In an interview with Digital Commentary, Hirjee recalled filming a gang confrontation scene involving Saif Ali Khan and R. Madhavan near Mumbai’s Churchgate station. As the actors immersed themselves in their characters, the intensity of the scene unexpectedly escalated. “During the shoot, I accidentally threw Saif’s expensive blue glasses in the heat of the moment,” Hirjee shared, adding that Saif pointed out the damage to his glasses later.
However, the scene soon turned fiery. Hirjee revealed, “Saif got so charged up that he asked the director to cut the scene, saying, ‘I’ll k*ll this guy.’ Equally pumped, I retorted, ‘Come at me.’” The unexpected exchange amused the crew, though the actors quickly moved past it.
Reflecting on the experience, Hirjee described Saif as one of Bollywood’s coolest and most versatile actors. “He was passionate about his craft, and that energy showed in every scene,” Hirjee said.
The actor also shared his thoughts on RHTDM’s journey from a box-office disappointment to a cult classic. “The film’s re-release after two decades surprised me. Fans still connect with it deeply, which is heartwarming,” Hirjee noted.
Despite the tension on set, Hirjee fondly remembers his time working on the film, emphasizing that such moments only added to the camaraderie among the cast. “Every role I take is special to me, and this one continues to hold a unique place in my heart.”
