Among the attendees were Ranbir Kapoor and his wife Alia Bhatt, who looked every bit the stylish couple.
Ranbir paid homage to his grandfather’s legacy by opting for a black bandhgala and carrying a moustache for ‘Love & War’. However, a viral video from the event soon captured everyone’s attention and caused a stir on social media. In the clip, Ranbir can be seen patting Alia’s back before gesturing towards his mother, Neetu Kapoor, as they walked the red carpet. Alia, in a sort of an attempt to greet her mother-in-law, rushes towards Neetu and calls out to her as “mom.” But in an awkward moment, Neetu is seen apparently walking past Alia without even acknowledging her, leaving the actress visibly confused. The video, however, went viral and many netizens speculated that Neetu had “ignored” her daughter-in-law.
Adding fuel to the fire, another viral clip from the same event shows Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir’s cousin, appearing to comfort Alia, who looks stressed or unsettled. Fans began piecing the two clips together, leading to further speculation about tension between the two women. Some users in the comment section of the video had their own opinions. One user commented, “Family function mein saas ka bahu ko tever dikhana iss permanent,” that the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fight is a regular phenomenon. Another said, “Alia Bhatt ke sath bhi aise hota hai ” meaning it was awkward. While many were quick to jump to conclusions, some people reminded everyone that these are not unusual in families. “Kahani ghar ghar ki chal rha hai, sbke ghar yhi hota hai, not a big deal” a user said. Another netizen joked, “Ranbir be like: mummy ke age koi bol sakta hai kya eee…”
The viral videos caused varied reactions online; however, the truth behind the interaction cannot be found. Whether Neetu did so intentionally or it was simply a mistake on her side, only Alia and Neetu will clarify things. For the moment, fans continue to make speculations, but unless the Kapoors do it for us, the entire story may never see the daylight.
