Valuables worth Rs 8.5L stolen from bungalow

Surat: Valuables, including cash and gold, worth Rs 8.5 lakh were stolen from a bungalow in Sai Kutir Society in Piplod area of Surat. The accused stole the valuables from two houses in the same bungalow when the occupants were not there.
Umra police are investigating the case after receiving a complaint from the housing society chairman.
According to details, society chairman Hetal Modh received a call from Purshottam Radadiya, the owner of bungalow no. 38, on Friday morning. Radadiya informed Modh that the house help of his neighbour, Dilip Mankadiya, told him that the door of his house was broken.
Modh and other office-bearers of the society went to the first floor of Mankadiya’s bungalow no. 37 and found that someone had broken into the house and stolen items. Modh called Mankadiya on a video call and showed him the broken cupboards to confirm if anything was missing. Mankadiya confirmed Rs 3 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh were missing from the cupboard.
Mankadiya had rented the ground floor to Manish Kansara. Modh and society members found the door of Kansara’s house also broken. Kansara had gone to his native place, Nandurbar, with his family.
During investigation, police found that thieves had stolen Rs 2.25 lakh in cash and ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh from Kansara’s house.
Police could not find anyone suspicious on the society’s CCTVs. They have started examining other cameras in the area in their attempt to nab the culprits.
