Uncle, cousin beat woman, her father over love marriage

Ahmedabad: A 20-year-old woman from the Rajivnagar locality in Satellite filed a complaint with Satellite police on Saturday, stating that her uncle and cousin beat her and her father over a dispute regarding her inter-caste wedding.
Urmi Parmar said in her FIR that she was in a relationship with a man from Jivrajpark named Akash Paal, and they decided to get married. She said that after their court marriage on June 12, she informed her parents about it around two months later.
She mentioned that her parents accepted her inter-caste love marriage, but her uncles, Shailesh Parmar and Pravin Parmar, who were her neighbours, were against the marriage. She said her uncles taunted her father, Kamlesh Parmar, about her marriage and fought with her family members. These petty fights took an ugly turn on Saturday afternoon when Shailesh’s son, Mayur Parmar, hit her father.
She explained that when her father was trying to move his car, debris from Shailesh’s house, which was under construction, blocked his way. Kamlesh told Mayur to throw the debris somewhere else as it was an obstruction on the road. Mayur became angry at Kamlesh and began beating him.
When Urmi tried to intervene to save her father, Mayur told her that she was the main reason behind the feud between family members. She objected to this, but she was also beaten by Mayur and her other uncle, Pravin Parmar.
Hurt by this, she took poison and was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where a medico-legal case was filed. Satellite police registered a case of causing hurt, using abusive words, criminal intimidation, and abetment against Mayur and Pravin and began an investigation.
