Sena UBT chief Uddhav, deputy CM Shinde spar over EVMs

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday took a dig at the Mahayuti, saying that there was no enthusiasm among those who were elected to the assembly, as they themselves couldn’t believe their wins. Uddhav said there was something suspicious in their victory, suggesting a machine (EVM) scam. He remarked that there was a rule of thieves and dacoits.
DCM Eknath Shinde on Sunday hit out at the opposition MVA, accusing it of misleading people about EVMs and not accepting the people’s mandate. Shinde said people do not vote for those who sit at home; they vote for those who work. He pointed out that when the opposition wins, no one demands election ballot papers instead of EVMs, which he called duplicity.
“Earlier, there was an election in Jharkhand, Karnataka. Lok Sabha elections were held. Now, Priyanka Gandhi has also won. So when they lose, they call it an EVM scam. When they win, no one demands ballot papers instead of EVMs. This is duplicity. The opposition has no issue left. I have already said that the opposition party will be given a big slap by my beloved sisters. All sections of society have shown their place to the opposition in this state. The people do not vote for those who sit at home. They vote for those who work,” DCM Shinde said.
“Those who won are not happy because they are not able to believe in their victory. This means there is something suspicious in their victory. There is a machine (EVM) scam, and many other scams. You have come even after the election results; everyone comes after winning. Only those who regret defeat make history. We want to make history,” Uddhav said. Uddhav was speaking after MNS functionaries from Bhandup joined the Sena (UBT).
“After ruining the entire Mumbai, they (BJP) are saying ek hain to safe hain. Now I want to ask the same question to the Marathi people. Will tomorrow’s Mumbai be ours? Because there are many housing projects where our rightful Mumbai is being torn apart before our eyes, and at such a time, will we sit and watch like fools? I don’t want to say anything about which party you come from. But after forming a party, some purpose is needed, some direction is needed. That is not the case at all in that party (MNS). In such a situation, workers like you work hard there, that hard work has no meaning,” Uddhav said.
