Surat: Bodies of two men — a father and his son — were found near Umalla village in Jhagadia taluka of Bharuch district on Sunday morning.
It was revealed that both consumed some poisonous substance. Police found a suicide note from them, alleging harassment over financial issues.
According to police, Bharat Patel (58) and his son Amit Patel (27) were residents of Kamrej in Surat district. They were associated with engineering spare part business.
Patel’s another son stays in Ahmedabad. They went to Umalla village which, about 90km away from Kamrej, and consumed pesticides commonly used in cotton crops.
When the police arrived, they found a bottle of pesticides and also a suicide note.
Umalla police inspector K M Vaghela told TOI: “We found a one-line suicide note in which allegations were made against a person for harassment over financial issues. We are verifying the details of the note.”
Police are also investigating why the duo travelled 90km to take the extreme step, as they did not have any business associations in Jhagadia and surrounding areas. Police registered case of accidental death.
