New Delhi: Trade organisations have called upon political parties to release separate manifestos addressing their concerns months before the Assembly elections.
The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has planned to hold meetings with various business groups. These consultations aim for developing a 10-point agenda that reflects traders’ concerns. The chamber intends to forward the demands to all political parties, pledging support to whichever party incorporates the trade-related issues in its manifesto.
“While different organisations have started taking their issues to political parties, in the series of meetings of the core committee, it was decided that before the elections, CTI will hold more than 100 meetings with traders from market associations, industry associations, transport associations, hotel and restaurant and banquet associations. The 10-point agenda will be prepared after understanding the issues of the traders. These demands will be sent to all the parties,” CTI chairman Brijesh Goyal said.
CTI president Subhash Khandelwal said that there are more than 20 lakh traders in Delhi and in such a situation, there should be a separate manifesto for traders.
“They have their set of demands related to licensing, general trade conditions, GST and other norms. We want all these issues to be considered seriously. Those issues which are commonly faced by traders in different sectors will be a part of our key demands to be shared with political parties. In the coming days, more meetings will be called where traders’ demands will be heard and conveyed to parties,” he said. TNN
