Ahmedabad: A high-speed crash on the Dholera-Ahmedabad highway turned deadly on Monday afternoon, wiping out four members of an Ahmedabad family and the woman who allegedly caused the accident.The tragic incident occurred near Sandhira village around 2.30pm when a Kia Seltos, reportedly being driven on the wrong side, smashed into a Scorpio.The impact was so intense that the Scorpio overturned. A total of five lives were lost, and three others were seriously injured.Inspector Paresha Jani of Dholera police identified the driver of the Seltos as 40-year-old Disha Prabhatani who succumbed to her injuries. Her 17-year-old relative, Yana Prabhatani, was critically injured.The deceased in the Scorpio have been identified as 72-year-old Gordhan Dobaria, a doctor, his sons Ashok and Gaurav, both 45, and Gaurav’s 18-year-old son Teerth. Two other passengers — Narendra Dobaria and Ramji Ghedia — suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital.According to police, they are yet to talk with the relatives of family members to gather more details.Dholera police, who are investigating the case, confirmed that the accident was caused by Disha who was driving on the wrong side. “We have registered a case of causing death by negligence and rash driving,” said police.A forensic team visited the accident site for further examination. Police have started an investigation into the sequence of events leading to the crash.
