The case was registered on a complaint filed by Chadha in 2020.
The court of additional chief judicial magistrate Paras Dalal said it would ensure he got a copy of the chargesheets and listed the matter for the next hearing on April 7.
Delhi police had filed a chargesheet under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting while armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50) of IPC, and Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and Section 3 of Pandemic Act. The court took cognisance of the chargesheet and its supplementary on April 29, 2023.
BJP MP Yogender Chandolia and BJP functionary Adesh Gupta are among accused in the case. As Chandolia is a sitting MP, the case was recently transferred to the special MP MLA court.
The attack at the DJB office coincided with alleged violations of Covid norms and was attributed to a group led by Gupta, who was then Delhi BJP president.
While Gupta appeared physically at the court Monday, Chandolia appeared through video-conferencing. The counsel for Chadha sought an exemption for him on the grounds that he is currently busy with the Parliament session.
